New From Western New York/Chicago

Hello,

I'd like to start by saying that there is a lot of useful information and some amazing cars on here!

Since I've decided on building a VIP car, I think this would be the best place to share knowledge and such (as I don't think there's a very large VIP scene in western New York).

Originally, I'm from Chicago but moved out here for school.

At the moment, I'm driving a 96 Camry which probably has more interior modifications than the car is worth.

I've been looking locally for a good LS430 to use as a base for my project but the pickings here (at least for imports) are rather slim.

Kingpin,

Thanks for the advice. Too bad NYC is still about 8 hours away from me. I think Toronto would actually be better.

As for the LS, it would be a long term project. Several years at least.

Welcome to the boards!

And like Kingpin said deep pockets are needed for VIP builds, but i'm sure you have the right idea already, take your time and space it between years at a time. Lots of inspiration here though and helpful people.

Just do it right the first time and stay away from knockoffs and get the real stuff and you should be set.

We're here for any questions/help needed!

Grinda,

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm well aware of the idea of saving instead of buying what is convenient (first-hand :pat: ).

Here are some photos of my Camry.

All the pillars wrapped in black Alcantara:

The Steering wheel redone in black leather:

The Center Console has also been wrapped in leather and rebuilt (fiberglass). All the hard plastic has been redone in piano black as well.

I have more photos (including the exterior), but I can't find them at the moment.
