lame and boring. Nothing like the w219 when it came out.
As posted on the Liberty forum, I love it.
It looks real expensive. If it didnt have a badge, you would think its a 6 figure car. I cant wait to see what Lorinser, Carlsson, and Brabus do with it.

predictable evolution imo. the w219 is the hardest car on the road to me, so the cookie cutter 2010 treatment still leaves it ahead of the pack.
personally i feel like the prime of car design (in my era) has passed. i don't see myself buying anything post mid-2000s anytime soon. there were only a handful of new cars i was really feeling and this takes the cls off that list. the good news is it will make the previous model less expensive.

No thanks.
I like the way their current generation C class has looked, and the E class. This? Not so much.

i feel you on this one -- my favorite modern merc is a w220 still, for some reason. the new e-class cabriolet is growing on me, though...

When you all see one slammed with a carlsson kit and some nice fitting wheels, most will have a change of heart.
I can see why the die hard CLS fans would be upset. I am one as well and I don't think it looks better than the old/current one. Not comparing it to the old CLS, I think it looks great and has tons of potential. Look at those sexy body lines. With the right kit (preferably German), this will be a real desirable car

ANYTHING slammed with a carlsson kit and nice fitting wheels looks good ;P
Just look at what Junction Produce does to kia's.
My beef is that the CLS used to be unique to the mercedes line up. This new one looks much more homaganized with the rest of their products. The rear quarter, the tail lights... the front is dope but (IMHO) they took what made the CLS out of the CLS. That car could be the new S class as far as i'm concerned.

I see your point and you are right, this new model makes you feel like all the new line up was re-designed by the same guy on the same design session.
Merc exec to design engineer: "We like what you did there so much, we are putting the same face on all the models we have!"

Looks mad aggressive. The generation before had a much simpler, cleaner feel to it, which I like

Thats the goal for any manufacturer, to make you know what kind of car that is even if you don't see the badge. With the direction Benz is in, the old design would stand out too much and look like a dated Benz. I think it does a great job standing out while looking somewhat like the other new models. Don't be so quick to judge until you see it in real life. We just have spy shots and brochure pics to go by. Almost everyone I knew hated the original CLS when it came out. They would later love it.
The old CLS is one of my favorites too. I'm not hating on it. Its just a different model. I am sure most people hated the W220 when it came out right after the W140. Same goes with just about all new models. These guys get paid big bucks because they know (or they just dictate) what will be hot in the future.

Exactly what I did on the new gen Infiniti M, I hated it, but now I think they actually look good after seeing them on the road. Sometimes the difference in seeing things in 3D vs. 2D is all it takes.

I sort of like the new CLS.
I know it's a Euro-pedestrian impact thing, but I hate what these regulations are doing to the front of modern cars. What a schnoz on that thing!
The current CLS looked pretty cool when it first came out, partly because it was unique.
Then, after a while, the side profile/rear end began to look like a dog taking a crap.
Nobody likes a droopy butt. Nobody.

I did review on this car a while back on some blog, I gotta find the link now lol, anyways this is what I initially thought about the car when I first saw pictures and video of this.
Long story short. The hood is too long the rear is too short. It was designed by a japanese fella.
