Replacement Infiniti Y33/Nissan Y32 LCA Ball Joints

Hello all,

I found a ball joint that works with Y33/Q45.

MOOG Part # K9818

That's all,

have a nice day and you are welcome.

Note. Press and taper is exactly same for the rear and front Ball Joints, but front's are tad bit shorter then rear's, so if you plan on changing them out, do all 4 :) and Yes, I put them on a Y33 LCA with Y33 Knuckles.

That is a good ass find, and this should be stickied. You just saved people hundreds of dollars vs. replacing the entire LCA.

and I don't even own a Y33!!

I figured I'd post this info up here, since I did spend about 4 hours of my time researching for this, and came up with 0 information on what will work for Y33 replacements besides the S-chassis option.

and also, outter tie rod ends are different from s-chassis as well for the Y33, I found out...

AWESOME info! Yes, the Y33 outter tie-rods (same as Y32) are different to S-Chassis. I believe the following outter tie rod-ends are compatible:

Infiniti Q45 (Y33)
Infiniti J30
Infiniti QX4
Nissan Pathfinder

Also,
J30 Rear Lower Control Arm works on Y33/Q45.
even the ball joint is same.

quick question -- i can press out the y33 lca ball joint and put s14 ones in if i'm going s14 spindles, correct? there's some confusion about that, apparently. i'd like to keep my y33 lca's since they've been cut up and welded to be adjustable.

thats what josh did, but s13. from what i gather the difference in s13/14 is the taper so it should work.

josh advised me to ask around -- he wasn't completely sure. he may be running s14 lca's on his car.

my guess is he was unsure about the s14 working because he used s13.

S13 and S14's ball joints are different in both taper and the press in base size.
S13 is smaller on both taper and press!

so, this means you can't use s13 ball joints with s14 LCA, and S14 ball joints with s13 LCA's. it just will not fit.

now, for ya'll going with s-chassis knuckle swap, try to get yourselves S14 knuckles and press in S14 ball joints in. should save you a hassle and trouble.

and try not to use S13 ball joints on S14 knuckles, the taper/shank on the ball joint is tad bit small and should NOT be used in such combination. yes they will fit, would it be safe? I'd double think about that one.

EDIT: Mod that changed the thread title, I only have done this ball joint swap on a Y33, so I do not know if it'll work on Y32!

mad-ass, thanks for the clarification -- and just to make sure, if i run s14 spindles, i can press in s14 ball joints into the y33 lca's, correct? that's my understanding of what you wrote, but it wasn't explicit, and i'm dumb haha

this is conflicting info.

if the s13 and s14 bases are different, and the s13 is a confirmed fit, then s14 wouldn't fit into a y33 lca.

All the research I've done on Zilvia, always use the appropriate balljoints with the spindle. I.e. S14 spindle - S14 balljoint. S13 spindle - S13 balljoint. From what I've read, S13 and S14 ball joints can fit in both LCA's.

I also think that Brokey33 is using the OEM Q45 LCA's with S13 balljoints and spindles.

i get that -- i'm planning on using s14 spindles on the car. the question is will s14 ball joints work in the y33 lca?

anyway, what a clusterfuck hahahaha. thanks guys for all the help :D

I'm pretty sure that the S14 ball joint will work with the Y33 LCA. The Y33 is just slightly longer to my understanding. I'm planning on running the Y33 LCA, but also have S13 LCA's if I decide to go more aggressive.

it's not the length of the arm that needs confirmation. the shank of the lbj will obviously fit the knuckle it was made for. what needs to be confirmed is if s14 lbjs will press into y33 lcas so that s14 knuckles can be used (brokey33 has already established that s13 will work).

P.S. you suck for never sending me the pics of the RLCA you were selling.

So if S13 works, S14 would.

That's a pretty good find on the exact measurements of the ball joints!

only problem with that is..no one sells ball joints for S13 rear's. so the solution to that is to use B13 SE-R front ball joints for S13 RLCA, MOOG Part # K9449.

cheez80 and BLKonBLK98, you can press in S14 ball joints into Y33 LCA's front and rear and it will work. S14 ball joint part number from Moog is K9820[and also same part number for S13 FRONT ball joint].

xseveredveganx, I'm trying to understand why you would use the s13 LCA's to go more aggressive compared to Y33/S14 lca's? S13 LCA's front and rear are shorter then the Y33/S14, which in that case will give you a shorter stance. unless you meant aggressive by being able to fit bit more wheel with less camber on the car.

sorry I haven't responded in couple of days, I don't check this forum as often as others.

I hope this clarifies all the questions.

Wider wheel with less offset and slightly less camber. I'll probably still add the roll center adjusters like cheez!
