Hawaii Guys! Help is needed please.

Not sure where to start...
 
So, I have been presented with a government job offer working in Honolulu Hawaii "Pearl Harbor". I am in the initial phase and I estimate I will be there around Oct-Nov time.
 
I am coming from Tokyo, Japan with my wife and I am in need of a little help and advice. I don't like to ask, even more so strangers I never met or that don't even know me, however I feel confident I can get some help from my fellow Vip members here.
 
What I am in need of doing most of, is moving my household goods. There is not much. Just some basic furniture, clothes, goods and what not. And with that, I may not even take the furniture.
If anyone can help with that, IE: container from Japan to Hawaii, that would be nice.
 
I would like to mail most of it from the Naval base here as it is cheaper, but my biggest problem is I don't have an address yet to ship to. Maybe a self storage would be good if anyone has a hook up or even knows of a place I can arrange to ship to?
 
I will be needing a car. I'd love a VIP car, but for now considering my expenses to move there are out of pocket, I'll have to settle for something very basic and cheap and runs. Sad part is, I gotta get rid of my VIP UCF21 Celsior, if it was cheap, I would bring it with me, but we all know the legal BS with bringing a right hand drive back to the states.
 
I will also be in need of advice as to living, good/safe locations and for reasonable prices. Keep in mind I'm used to the ridiculous prices of rent in Japan, but I also don't want to be spending 2k for a one bedroom. So any help or hook ups would be appreciated.
 
The things I need most help with is moving household goods and vehicle transportation when I am there. I will most likely have to stay on the base in temp lodging for a month or two until I get on my feet.
 
This is most certainly going to be a rough ride to start, a lot of out of pocket expenses, but I am bound and determined to take this opportunity for a better future. I'll adapt and overcome and make it work.
 
So Hawaii guys, I hope you can help a fellow VSC member out. Any help, advice and guidance would be most appreciated.

are you military? dont they pay for you to move all your stuffs? Sounds like alot of stuffs youll be shipping. 

As for housing Aiea, Pearl City, Salt Lake "where i Live" are all good areas and very close to Pearl harbor.. dont know if you looking for a house or condo.. but there are people thats trying to rent there condos where i live .. it goes from 1600.00 - 2000.00 a month with 2 parking and 2 bedroom 2 bath. 

You can find cheaper but u have to look. My sis might be renting her one bed apt right in town soon.. but dont know how much for. 

How much you want to spend on a car.

I have a 2 bdrm, 1 bath, 2 assigned parking in waikele for rent around the time you arrive...it's a ground floor unit with a small yard to good views...has updated bathroom and hardwood floors for easy main't...it's about 12 mins west of pearl harbor...when ur gearing up to come, shoot me a pm...good luck...this place has the best food...

@ eight08customs - I am currently a DoD contractor. I am picking up a GS level Government job. No relocation is included so I am out of pocket on moving. My wife and I are living in a small apartment now in Tokyo. We have the basic stuff IE: bed, 2 seat couch, TV and table etc. etc. and our clothes and stuff.

As for an apartment or condo/house rental. we don't need much. A 2bd 1 bath is nice, but a larger 1bd and bath would work too. Because of the high expenses to move and what not, and the fact my pay is now going to be on a taxed bases, the cheaper the rent the better.

We're trying to start fresh here, start a family and what not. As for a car, it depends on price and type really. Probably start off cheap, something that runs and gets me to work for now, then move up. Heck, i'd love to bring my 95 UCF21 Celsior with me, but that will never happen.

@ VIP-UCF - Sounds good. I'll PM you. And thats not the first time I have heard about the food there. Speaking of, does Chipotle exist there? Good God I miss that place. lol

no chipotle and zippy's is straight up drunk food...3 am and no where to go, last resort is zippy's...they really do have the best chili though...
