I wouldn't call them a joke, they are genius'. They sold the world on an image, not the products.
Iconic brands are defined as having aspects that contribute to consumer's self-expression and personal identity. Brands whose value to consumers comes primarily from having identity value comes are said to be "identity brands". Some of these brands have such a strong identity that they become more or less "cultural icons" which makes them iconic brands. Examples of iconic brands are: Apple Inc., Nike and Harley Davidson. Many iconic brands include almost ritual-like behaviour when buying and consuming the products.
There are four key elements to creating iconic brands (Holt 2004):
"Necessary conditions" - The performance of the product must at least be ok preferably with a reputation of having good quality.
"Myth-making" - A meaningful story-telling fabricated by cultural "insiders". These must be seen as legitimate and respected by consumers for stories to be accepted ((See Brand Anthropology)
"Cultural contradictions" - Some kind of mismatch between prevailing ideology and emergent undercurrents in society. In other words a difference with the way consumers are and how they some times wish they were.
"The cultural brand management process" - Actively engaging in the myth-making process making sure the brand maintains its position as an icon.

Seriously...trash talking companies because people don't like what they might market? To what end? Does it make you guys feel better? I guess it's true though, you know you're popular when you've got haters. People still jock John's GS, as the original "VIP" car here in the States. Bag all you want, you still have to give respect where it is due. This site probably wouldn't even be here if it weren't for JP in a way.
FYI, that's not a toilet, it is a chair.

Yeah I can agree some stuff is too much such as sunglasses, slippers, etc. But in the end, they are still Junction Produce.

I understand this is a public forum but be very careful what words you choose to use. Junction Produce has supported this site and many of you would not be here if it weren't for them.
On a side note, I'd rock that "toilet" all day even if I had to take a shit lol

JP isn't a joke, they are just Japanese. Since when have the Japanese not been a little crazy? I'm surprised they don't have a real toilet or toilet seat honestly with matching JP toilet paper

I know what JP is trying to do, and it entertains me.
Are they going the direction they want to be? sure. Are they trying to hard? yes.
It is almost to the point you can't take them serious. We put Louis Vuitton in cars, but they dont make cars.. and this is what JP is trying to do, but in reverse.

Exactly. I can't take them serious. Throwing your name on everything under the sun waters down the brand and it will falter in the end. It's been done a million times before with the same outcome.
Just in case not everyone knows, the OP has a full JP kit on his car wth a custom grill with the JP logo moulded in. I don't believe he's hating in any way.

I'm just mad I can't afford a $400 chair with a sticker or a $900 HID plug n play kit. Sorry but I can't take JP seriously anymore with their ridiculous products and prices. I'm happy for them that they were "pioneers" in the vip game but buying a bunch of cheap crap and stamping your name on EVERYTHING then hiking up the price by 500% is going a little over board, even though I can't knock them for cashing in on their name as much as they can, I still wouldn't buy their stuff. I just choose not to support them when there are now tons of companies offering products more to my liking. Can I not have an opinion?

If im not mistaken they were going to try and sell food at one time along with random shit for pets and some kind of color changing HID setup. I guess theyre trying to branch out to other things that way they have something to fall back on but not everything they sell is complete garbage. Ill admit the slippers, condoms, candy, food, and stuff like that was a bit much. But other things like the baby seat, shirts, pet accessories, and things like that were pretty nifty. I still cant stand how hard their neck pillows are though.

What they should be doing is coming up with other names for their products Like for the chairs, and just using this as a example, Ikea chairs by junction produce. Junction Produce would be the backing, and the other name would be for the product sale. But who knows maybe japanese are different. Its like Infiniti by Nissan.

Before anyone defends Junction Produce I would suggest buying 2 or 3 of their products before they talk.
Everything i've gotten from them has NOT been the quality I expected. $70 for a tiny "High Society Saloon Gallery" emblem with bubbling vacuum chrome when its IN THE BOX that is NOT quality. A JP flag I had hanging in the living room by the curtain pole started unravelling after a few months is NOT quality. I haven't had a kit from them so I can't say in that respect but I can say their little trinkets are all disappointing, and if I had a company I hope to introduce new customers with the little shit and have them graduate to full body kits I wouldn't make shitty stuff that turned people away from a $3,300 investment in my company.

see Sammy this is the point i am trying to make in some of the cases .. JP has made a lot of great stuff but at the end of the day its Marketing that sell products BUT reliability is what draws returing clients .. Sticking to the hard core roots is great thing BUT rebranding a lower end brand is another ..
for the most part the OLD stuff is great but these day their are tonnes of FAKE jp stuff soo you might have gotten a fake EMB ?
