blown headgasket on 2JZ-GTE in 1GS... suggestions?

i have a 2jz-gte TT in my 94 GS, blown headgasket.

im going to be pulling the head and starting the HG replacement this week after work, its not my first time doing it but i haven't done it on this setup before.

im just looking for any pointers from someone that has done it before on this swap, or parts they suggest i inspect replace or put on while im doing this.

right now i am doing the following

pull head
send head to machine shop to get resurfaced
replacing all gaskets on the top end.
might be getting an upgraded HG depending on availability and funds.
replacing timing belt
replacing water pump

dropping turbos at my buddies shop to get verified.
and i dont know.... paint my valve cover sparkle pink or something....

so yeah, just kind of a shout out to anyone more familiar with this motor than i.
or need to do's

head studs?
specific gasket i NEED.
area of installation or removal i will def have a headache doing.

Use a straight edge across the top of the block to see if the block is warped or not... Hopefully, it's not... 

Not sure if your block has freeze plugs but if it does, it might be easily accessible with the head/exhaust and intake manifolds off...

good metal head gasket ,HKS is always good Maybe some APR stud, New piston rings should last you a few more thousand miles...
 
Unless you jsut wanna over-do the whole motor and get around 600+ on tap :)

The OEM GTE hg is good for over 600 rwhp, so no need to get an AM one. Same applies to the studs. You just can't beat Toyotas OEM quality...

One thing that I would do, and actually did with mine, is get your head ported'n'polished now that its out, so when you go single your all set :biggthumpup:

supra headgaskets always blow. you'd figure they would have fixed that problem in the first gens.

with the amount of stuff on the passenger side of the engine, i was toying with the idea of going single this time around... but i just dont know if the funds are there right now. i need to address the interior badly instead of making it faster.

i hope the block isnt twisted man... that would be a pain since i dont plan on pulling the bottom end out at all.
it IS cast iron i believe so i think ill be alright.

should be starting the wrenching next monday.

Get metal head gasket, like hks or greddy or I got a cheaper one cometic head gasket. And definitly  get ARP's head and rod bolts.  

Get the head and block machined too! and the cylinder walls honed. But thats if your taking your block out.

i dont know what im saying anymore..haha

If you've blown the HG, and you aren't pushing a lot of HP, you probably have a lot of miles on the motor. Take it out and build it, even if you just build it back to stock specs with a couple of small upgrades, it'll last a lot longer and hold a lot more power. Better to refresh the whole motor if you've got the time/money.

the previous owner had a cracked coolant hose, didnt notice. and the car overheated, which blew the gasket. motor has 70k on it, im going to do the top end for now and go from there.

cubanGS just redid his HG so im going to start with his list of replaced parts, i hear good things about the OE HG. but i never hate on ARPs for piece of mind!

just the motor itself is a nice increase in power from the stock gs300, i might do a few things to it but nothing too crazy right now. there are def other areas i need to address first.

Get the head checked/milled and tear it down and rebuild it. Might as well, if it's already out! Nothing better than fresh hot tanked parts!

If you do pull the entire motor out, consider getting the block o-ringed like I did. I had heads o-ringed before, but have since been told it is better to do the block since it is less likely to warp.

head gasket titan motorsports if you havent looked, and probley even titan's studs as well their made in house made to use on their drag car youll be getting your moneys worth lol.
