Offical Y34 Thread .. Suspesnion/kits/pic/ Question !!

I have seen the addition of 8 to 10 Y34 owners over the last few months and with new members joining every week , they making new threads about another topic or an issue that was ressolved a few weeks before . i don't think Y34 group will ever be as good as the Y33 group but we are a special breed . our cars are a hate it or love it platfrom .
 
Since parts are hard to find in the local forsale section :pat: here is what you need to know ,Vip is all about suspension/stance (etc) you will find that your options for suspension is very limited .

3/Insurance ...has the option of adding bags 
4/Air runner .. expensive as hell but its the best thing to straight bolt on you are going to find .

Fix is to either go to Infiniti dealer and spend approx 7-800 on a new unit, or send  your unit to BBA Re-manufacturing 866-573-2740 who for 250 will fix it w/ lifetime warranty.

There are way more options for coilovers milky white, sessions, k-break, and too many more to list.  it's just that it requires patience because none of these are made in the US.  but well worth the wait imho.  oh and aimgain has two separate kits for this platform also.

This isn't true with my setup. My car is even in my opinion. My [U]Eibachs[/U] give me equal space front & rear to insert a standing quarter between the wheel and fender. The only problem with the [U]Eibachs[/U] for this car (2003-24004) is that they can't be found anywhere.

I have heard from quite a few people that it gave an uneven stance. Even on some forums where people had cut the springs to even them out. It was pretty well documented on another forum.

really! "Quite a few" I only know/knew of 3 individuals including myself who has or had the eibachs on this 2003-2004 M, but in my experience and opinion they sit perfect. Actolex had a set and cut his rears for the oposite reason you gave. I think he cut his rears due to them not being low enough to match the fronts, not because the rear were much lower. But anyhow....:biggthumpup: Good info on both ends. All this stuff is debatable

who can we contact to buy all these stuff for the m45?I've contacted -email a few vendors on here and it's been a week still no response..looking to get price and what they can get..looking for coilovers,window visor,roof spoiler and mode parfume kit..and question regarding the rear bumper of the kit..is the rear bumper a lip kit? I wanted to know because by looking at the rear oem bumper body line it's diffrent from the bodykit.thanks...

The picture below is a recent one of a NEW air runner for Y34 and their new set up .. not the braided stainless lines do not come with you kit ..but its well worth the $$$ and its a lot safer vs having a moving plastic line ..which is not DOT/MTO approved or safe ..

Besically the have lowered the rear buy making their own custom set up as such allowing a y34 to sit on the ground on 20 inch rims ..

Who's BS'ing?  A sticky for this platform is warranted since not much is available and there are some nuances with the J-spec Y34 vs. the US M45.

I can see from the pictures that airrunner uses kyb super special adjustable shocks.  does anyone know if you can buy these shocks from any vendors or are they special for airrunner.  Airrunner makes very nice struts but the accessories that come with it like compressors and valves are just so dated.  love to be able to buy struts seperate but know they dont do that.  next option is to make my own so....

This is a good sticky for the y34 guys! Not too much stuff for this car!  All the good stuff is from the rising sun! Gotta pay to play that's for sure! I didn't know that the new airrunners went that low! That makes me really want one now! I guess I have to find a different kit cause that's at less two people here that want the mode kit plus I saw a few with it on already but man it's a nice kit!  BYW i just found out that the ground wire  on the Deff might be linked to the ABS and traction lights if the groound is broken .. Stay tuned ..

Could someone at least get the part# off the shocks used for the rear of the Airrunner kit?  I'd like to know as well since I'm doing custom front coilovers and keeping just springs and shocks in the rear.

I will check about the KYB's from my contact at Air Runner and you definitely can sit a M45 on Aggressive 20's on the ground with the Air Runner Setup.

Just got my issue in the mail today.:dance: Worth every penny. Complete with tons of info on the Cedric/Gloria. Very detailed builds featured aswell. Theres even a heavy modded Cedric with USDM M45 Infiniti front and rear bumpers with a Jdm full lip kit fitted seamless. Even went as far as running the Infiniti door sills on it! This issue delivers :thumbsup:

First, is this a current issue or something that is a back issue (I have a friend in Japan).

Second can you take a pic of the US bumpers with JDM lips? That is my plan and I would like to see how the fit is.

You have to elongate the sides, re-shape the corners, and contour the center, especially above the lip line. The rear lip is even worst due to the mounting line along the lower black trim. I spent about 4 weekends cutting, measuring, adjusting, re-measuring, glassing, mudding, sanding......:pat:

The sides should mount right up though right? Is that the cheaper lip kit from Yahoo Auction JP? Can you get another?

I bought mine from Upgarage.....I have a guy who purchases them for me and then ships the stuff.  Shipping and his fees makes the price "not so cheap".

Anyone have an upgarage guy?

OMG that's so effing cheap!  I'm starting to lean towards getting JDM bumpers for my eventual Glanz lip kit, would be easier to install and should look pretty trick with the small bumpers.

Mine just came in this morning.  I ordered both this and the Q45 issue.  Shit is no joke.

I got a fix for the creaking drivers seat! Working for a week now so far, so good.  Raise seat all the way up and forward, lean all the way back. Remove the switches for the seat controls and remove panel (1 press in clip on bottom in back, 2 screws on front panel to save you from breaking the tabs). Pull the vinyl back that covers the hinges and spray lube ALL OVER the hinges. I can't stand the creak so I said fvck it, I don't car if it gets all over. However with that said, I didn't get it on anything but the hinges. I used Mavel Mistery Oil in a spray can, but any lube will do (not WD-40 which really isn't a lube). I then leaned the seat forward and back several times, lowered it back down to my position and it's been SILENT since.  Phew, I hope this lasts, but if it doesn't, it's easy enough to do it again.

I had previously wedged a piece of foam wrapped in a towel between the seat and B-pillar which worked for a few weeks but had stopped working.  I'm the kind of person where creaks and squeaks in my car can seriously take all enjoyment out of driving, so I had to do something.

Has anyone got the part number for the KYB's used in the Airrunner kit for the REAR shocks? For that matter, does anyone have a part number for ANY rear shocks besides OEM? Bilstein preferred, just need something stiffer.

the kyb special part # is burried somewhere on nico (found it before) but is discontinued i think.
 
koni makes a ton of inserts that could be adapted, you just need to spec it out.

The rear aren't inserts, I got the front inserts covered with Bilsteins. I know Airrunner kits come with KYB's, but they're not SR Specials.

i know this has been posted somewhere..but have anyone tried to cut oem spring on a y34 before???how was the ride??is it better to get lowering spring and cut em' instead of cutting oem springs??im trying to make my car sit low while im saving up for air runners...

inserts are exactly what they sound like. they are inserted into the shock housing. you can do the same thing you had done to the fronts for your rears.
 
the kyb shocks in air runner are kyb super specials, not sr specials. no y34 app in japanese catalog.

generic instructions but you get the idea.

I see how that works on the front strut, and that's exactly what was done with the Bilstein insert; they tapped a hole in the bottom and the Bilstein insert is bolted in. But the rear is not a strut with an insert, it's just a gas pressure strut. 

KP: Part number please!! Have you ever fixed your seat? Mine is going on a month and is totally quiet still!!

Thinking about going down from 14k front springs though, it's pretty rough on my local roads which could double for an off-road short-course race track haha. Would 12k be a noticeable difference?

if that's the case a housing can be made, but at this point you'll be asking yourself why you didn't just buy coilovers in the first place.

The thing is, I don't really need adjustable height in the rear, just want to replace the shocks, plus on the Y34 the spring is not over the shock, they're independently mounted. If I ever decide to put rear coilover springs, that's easy, and changing the shocks is easy too, I just want stiffer than OE ones.

The rear shocks are just plain-Jane, normal run of the mill style shocks. Nothing fancy or special about them, but I know AirRunner comes with silver KYB Super-Special shocks for the rear, really all I want to know is the part number.  I just want something a little firmer than the stock KYB's.

as you can see there is no longer a part application for the y34. my guess is the shock is proprietary to air runner. i would think the best bet would be to contact them.
 
as far as inserts go, once the guts are removed you are left with a housing. as long as you can physically fit an insert (which looks to be an issue imo) then you are good to go. another option would be to transfer the lower mount (or fab/locate a suitable fork) to a custom housing (i.e. pipe).
 
honestly though, i think you're expecting too much from a shock. s-techs are soft and thats not going to change. 14kg/5kg just sounds unbalaced to me (jic's spring rates are 9kg/7kg for comparison's sake). i have no doubt you are (way way way) out of the bilsteins damping range up front. i think you could (should) back it down considerably up front. i would also look into using z33 springs in the rear to boost the spring rate (assuming you figure out a suitable shock). i have no confirmation that it will work but it just looks too similar not too.

Now that I'm looking at all this, I think I might be able to get a set of the same Bilstein's like I have in front, and re-use the mounting tab off the stock shocks.... I will update on this.  

As for spring rates, I don't know about the damping ability w/ the Bilsteins being way out of range, but on the hwy it's a very decent, but firm ride. With the wife and kid driving 110 miles to Auto Fashion, it was a real joy driving and my kid didn't have any problem napping lol. However, I do 90% of my driving on local roads which are crap and the ride is pretty bumpy, so I'm probably gonna go down to 10-12k in front. I know the S-tech are soft, but it actually seems really balanced and the car handles real nice, I just figure the shocks are probably due for replacing anyhow.

Couple questions... Mine is a Y34 so it means the driver seat, fuel guage and trank shock is all fuked up. I will get a new shock for the trank easily, and i might just leave the fuel guage alone since it costs big bux to fix. But who makes seat cover for it?? Ok, sorry!  I'm really surprised, mine has 76k or so, and the leather is like new. I got a buddy w/ an 03 that's got about 150k and his leather is mint too. However, all of them I've seen have cracks in the piping along the seam which is vinyl on the outer thigh-bolster of the drivers seat. I fixed that with some black shoe polish though.

And if your seat ever does creak which most of them seem to do, lean it all the way back, move the "leather" around the hinges out of the way and spray lubricant ALL OVER the hinges and wipe the excess off. My seat has been completely silent since the beginning of October when I did it.

wow! 27K with busted leather. Sorry to hear that. Maybe the car was neglected and/or left in sun or saturated with Armorol. I'm well under 40K with mint black leather.

These CNC brackets will work for nissan akebono upgrade through 2007 . For 2008 and up these brakes are direct bolt on and dont require CNC bracket.
 
-Brake dust shields will have to be removed/cut for installation
-Caliper has two bleeders - bleed outer bleeder first then inner bleeder
-You may need to space your current wheels out for caliper clearance
-Rear akebonos are supposed to be easy swap with no adapter- will update post when i get the rear brakes on

Nice but its the knockoff version of the Autech aerokit they sell on yahoo autions. One quick give away is that the front bumper has no upper middle indentation for the larger Autech grille. This car has a regular older gloria ultima grille=)

Not sure if this has been covered or not. It appears I have fixed my squeaking drivers seat.

I simply layed the seat alllll the way back, peeled back the leather cloth covering the hinges and oiled them. I used the oil that is used commonly on swamp cooler bearings, its kind of an all purpose lube. Basically all I did was squirted it all over any moving part, don'tt be afraid to use a lot. Make sure you get in the lower area of the hinge as well. You can access it all from the top. Then I pulled the cover back over the hinge and made 3 or 4 full rotations up and down with the seat. 

Mine hasn't made a peep since then. I can take pictures of the areas I lubed if people need me to.

How does the front coilover attach to the spindle? Did you have to weld it, or was it a bolt on kit?

You have to weld it like you do with 99% of all kits for Y34's, F50's, Y33's. There are only 2 or 3 kits I know of that you don't, and those usually want your stock ones back as a core exchange anyhow. It's an easy job for anyone who knows how to weld. You cut the stock tube about an inch and a half above the spindle, the new part goes over that and then weld it on. At MAX they masked it and painted it when they were done welding, looks like it came out of the box that way.

That's what I figured, but the paint job made it look factory. How do they ride? And what do these cost?

Considering how low I am, the ride is excellent. I have the front struts set in the middle and the rear are at 15/16. On the freeway it's phenomenal, on local crap disintegrating roads, it's still pretty decent.

I believe all MAX VIP spec coils are 1250.

knuckle head lol, I would have bought the Glanz kit long ago if that was the case. Unfortunately, most people over there won't ship international. So you have to go through someone who will act as a broker. I even hit up one of them who everyone seems to recommend on this site,  w/ links to what I wanted to buy, but they never replied.

Good luck with that. I had airrunner willing to try and get me that exact kit. By the time they put it on the boat and got to me it was nearly $1500. Shipping from Japan is the killer especially fir aero.

That was before the dollar took a dive. Not sure of the price now. I just couldn't see paying that much for a lip kit that needed to be molded.

The main thing for me, it's my favorite look for the Y34 by far, regardless of price I love it. 

This thread got my wheels turning, Memoryfab want 850 on top of the buy price to cover their profit, customs and shipping (pretty high if you ask me). Based on current currency, that's about 2100. Now 2100 is too much IMO, but 1500 is what I was hoping to be around.

These available yet? They're not showing on their site. Also looking for some clarification of how these are welded because I've keep seeing different explanations. The coilover is welded to the cut-off lower portion of the stock strut tube, right? Not to the actual spindle itself. I know it's a newb question, but I'm trying to setup an install any everything and I want to be clear in what I'm asking.

Yes, the coilover is welded to the cut-off strut tube. Your best, easiest bet is to just pick up the phone and call them. They should have stock in hand now, but it may take a while to show up on the website, so I wouldn't just wait till it's on the site. Plus, Dan is insanely knowledgable (and very nice), and can help you with questions to tell your installer in Texas.

I just joined i been doing a lot of what has been posted already Ive had my m45 for about 10 months now. Got the old oil consumption problem but i run Rotella 15w-30 havent had an issue since then....im going to get the cats on the headers gutted or removed whenever i have time.

maybe since you can run the g/z rear toe arms you could run the g/z rear camber arms? how much camber you tryna run now? =)

Has anyone gotten their Y34 tuned? UpRev has told me that they don't support our ECUs. Does anyone know of another company or what car(s), other than the F50, share the same ECU? Is the Y33's compatible?

The Y33 has a totally different engine and electronics, so therefore, it won't work. 340 hp isn't enough? You could always do custom turbo setup.

if it was 340hp to the wheels, that'd be sufficient. lol

on another note, does anyone know what the size and thread pitch is for the bolt for the rear shock?

It's also got 333lb/ft of torque, which is pretty impressive. These cars scoot out fast. If yours doesn't, you should have it checked out. Doing a true dual exhaust instead of the 2/1/2 stock setup with either an X or H pipe will help with power as well.  I've let a modded Integra get a full car length on me, then caught and passed him in just a few seconds. I've raced a Mustang GT (new one) which I didn't know I was racing, he tried to blast on me, so I nailed it and kept up with him all the way, pretty much head to head. Not bad for a "luxury" car to keep up with a new, V8 powered "sports" car.

On your last question, look up the Parts Shop MAX VIP-spec coilover thread, it's in there from when they did my install writeup.

I just purchased a y34 and have that guage cluster problem. Does anybody know if the gas light will come on? I need my car for work until I decide to fix myself or take it to infiniti and let them diagnos for 150 and they fix under warranty. Also will it fix the destination till empty? My DTE is at 0 (****)

No, the gas light won't come on because it thinks your tank is full.  Reset miles every time you fill up and figure on 200-220 miles to a tank in city driving.

If you can get it fixed (brand new gauge cluster) for 150, just do it. They don't need to hold your car, they need to order the cluster, then program the mileage, and then it takes all of 30 minutes to swap out.

I didn't think it'd work but I thought I'd ask. 340HP isn't nearly enough for me. I thought about turbo or S/C but I'd like to stay N/A. Setting up now to have the intake manifold reworked to go with the longtubes and full exhaust. Lightweight pulleys are in the making as well-just a matter of time. Of course, I want the stance and wheels right first but it couldn't hurt to go ahead and source a tune.

Aww man, I thought the dealer was handling that for you. If the Infiniti dealer is only charging $150 I'd go for it.

i'd do bolt-ons and see how much you gain....even though its all custom work....but thats what you get for having a car with no aftermarket parts available. lol

i'm sorry, but the 150 is a diag fee, not the price to fix it. lol. and unless you have an extended warranty, infiniti wont factory warranty the repair since the car is a 03-04. my cluster is startin to act up when i get down to a 1/4 tank so i just fill up every time i hit around 300 miles.

There aren't many bolt-ons available yet but I'm working with some guys over at the FX club to get some stuff made. I've also contacted Unichip because it looks like they'd be able to tune the Y34.

Although I've never felt the car lacks power and I've never gotten my ass handed to me in a light to light race which 9/10 times I've won, but if you guys actually did figure something that was proven to work, I'd be in for it :biggthumpup:

Don't get me wrong, the car is definitely powerful. I just think there's more to be had. The performance right now is on par with my old Altima SE-R but this car has the potential to be sooo much better.

LOL! Man, you gotta get that gauge fixed. Did you look at the thread where the guy took the sending unit apart, cleaned it up, and the gauge worked?

Haven't seen a nice set below ~$350 and I think that was the cheapest by FAR.

Just wanted to update the thread. Looking into having a custom harness made for our ECUs. Did some searching and, of course, the only match is the F50.

Doubt you're going to be able to find longer studs at the auto parts store. They're probably only going to have OE. 
 
Does anyone know where I can get a spare Y34 or F50 ECU?

doubt you're gonna find a spare ecu anywhere around here lol. and you're right bout the studs. 
luckily my dealer had a couple of the fronts and rears so i could measure.....and this is what i came up with::

front studs
12.85 knurl
15.3 shoulder length
42mm stud length (shoulder and threads)
47.5mm overall length

rear studs
14.25 knurl
15.3 shoulder length
38.9mm stud length
43.5mm overall length

i have an h&r 30mm spacer kit.....pair of 15s, pair of 10s, and a pair of 5s. so imma put 15mm longer studs front and rear and came up with 50mm overs to be best bet. CS and Ichiba only measure threaded area, not including knurled section which is 7.5mm. 

FYI...just in case anyone was ever curious lol

Has anyone replaced the glovebox CD player in the '03 to the one in the dash like the '04? Mine crapped out on me and I'm wondering what all is involved in swapping them out.

not sure, but wouldnt it just be easiest to find a replacement cd changer? they go in/out rather easily.

Gotta see if I can find one local. I was thinking of switching to the dash one because reaching over to the glove to change CDs is a PITA.

I know lol I called that dealer back and they are back and forth about getting it fixed. that stupid shop they put it in didnt want to find the guage bezel and asked me to find it myself. I was like they were paid to do it so wtf should I do it LOL. should be getting a call today about it.  They said the fuel sending unit was new but it needed a new guage bezel.

Looking at the FSM, it looks to be the same harness so I'm going to see about getting my hands on one to check it out.

I do, it's got less than 1k miles on it, I bought it brand new. It doesn't have the correct LCD for the models with ICC laser cruise control, so that feature didn't work right on my car car with this cluster but everything else worked just fine. Odds are you don't have ICC, but if you do, it won't work right, the car would speed up and slow down.

Random person on Craigslist parting out who knows what vs. someone who's been on VSC for years with a solid rep. I bought one brand new a little over a year ago, used it for less than 2 months and put it back in the original box ever since. I always figured I'd keep it just in case I needed it, but I got mine fixed at BBA Reman in Sept 2010 and it's worked perfect ever since and the repair came with a lifetime warranty, so fuck it, might as well sell the one that's just been sitting in the box for the past 14 months.

and kong, those wheels are fs lol. you dont need a tuning shop to install coils, any reputable shop can put them on, set them up, and align the car. i just took my spindles to a local welding shop to have them weld the lower sleeves up. but i do all my own work, no need to waste money on labor :biggthumpup:

Oh they will....soon enough. Lol. Im sick and tired of mine squeaking, they just started doing it again...my gas gauge is still good though....

I know how to fix the seat, mine is silent. Raise it all the way up and forward. Twist yourself as best you can so you can see up under the seat, move the seat up and down a bit while shining light and  look for the hinges that allow the up/down movement then take a can of lube with straw extension on it and spray the shit out of those hinges and bam! Silent seat. I knew it was a hinge or hinges and not the rails it's just a pita to get to but you'll be so glad you did. That squeak made me hate driving the car but now I love it. Going on 8 months with no noise.

hopefully i wont have the squeak issue. my only issue is my gas gauge and imma do the sendin unit cleanin first....or maybe just replace it to see if that helps any. i know the g35/fx35/m35 had seat track issues from the rear hinges actually breaking and causin the seat to rock and shit...but tahts cuz most of the owners were fatasses lol im just a measly 165lbs

You're lucky you don't have it. It's SO freaking annoying. Creaky, like an old rocking chair. 

Now I gotta get rid of the aggravating buzz from the mirror, if I grab it and squeeze it, it stops, but it always comes back, it's like where it snaps together just isn't quite tight enough or should have a rubber gasket between the parts or something. In my Y33 I never had any irritating squeaks / rattles / creaks, even after taking the center console apart several times doing the Pioneer Nav install, it still never made a peep anywhere in that car.

lol yeah. my g35 rear view mirror would rattle, but that was due to my system boomin. i havent heard any rattles or creaks in my M yet, had a couple lil noises out of the left front dash speaker grill but i pushed it down some and the noise hasnt been back since :biggthumpup:

You're going to get that damned seat squeak. Soooo annoying. I took the seat out a couple of weeks ago and hit it with some grease but the sound came back so I'm going to try F.L.S.'s method and see if that works. I think the suspension bushings need to be done too so I'm planning to hit all those when I get the coils on.

I figured, I'd greased the shit out of the rails with brake grease LOL, I didn't care if I stained shit, I just had to get rid of that noise. I knew it has to be metal on metal, and something that's moving, so I tried the rails, the hinge for the seat back, and finally was down to "it's got to be the hinges that move when the seat is raised up or down" and you could tell they were kinda dry / rusty (and this is a dry ass So-Cal car!), so I sprayed them up, and it worked instantly. The next time I drove the car it was silent, and has been ever since.

Besides that stupid mirror....lmao

sup guys.. update on suspension! GOT EM IN!! Took bout 6 hours because we didnt have most tools.. but we managed. Rears were a pain since u have to take the whole rear seats apart. but wasnt bad. the ball joint just didnt wanna come out. we had trouble with the alighnment. the specs were wayyy off. (help on this please) its at neg 3 rear and thats the best we can do. the toes wouldnt line up right as we ajusted camber. pretty much we had it the best we can but its still kinda off.. mabe I need ajust arms or some....worst prob we had was getting it off the dayum lift lmfo! made us sweat more than the rest...

Other than that. I love it! I can go all the way down no rubbing since im on these 18 oem of some sort..but I am pretty low. the rears look slightly lower for some reason. thought we had the hieghts mesured...but ill raise it tomorrow. I had a few pics then my damn phone died and I didnt bring a charger. so I lost half the build on this build :(
but I will have before and after shots. looks bad. now ill just need wheels but its winter so ill wait till spring to put good wheels on...

you shouldnt have any issues with your toe, but get the arms/bolts if you need to. and you should be somewhere between -2.5-3 with your camber eccentrics to the most positive side. 
as far as height, the front and rears are diff so just match the fronts then match the rears....thats the lovely part with coilovers....up/measure/wheel off/adjust/wheel on/measure/wheel off/adjust/wheel on/down/etc etc etc lol

 I think by take the rear seats apart he means you have to take the back seat out to install the rear coil overs to get to the top. A bit of a pita if you want to change dampening settings.

how much are the new megan coils with spindles sellin for now? damn work internet blocks almost every site. lol

They sell for $1200 MSRP, and it still requires the usage and replacement of the z32 lower mounts which is additional. Now correct me if im wrong, but the q45 front spindle and of course the needed y34 front spindles are different.

so my back muffler was done..so i cut it out and replaced 'em w/ two straight pipes..it actually sounds pretty good..anyways..i notice while warming up my car that one of the pipe or exhaust  have no smoke coming out of it, and i checked underneath the car and notice that there's a throttle like (actuator?) on the right side of the exhaust just after the last resonator? what are the purpose of that actuator?? is that like a cut-out?

It's for fuel economy, it cuts off the flow on one side, you need to either have it welded to the "open" or just have it cut out entirely. I had it cut out on mine.

so did you cut the entire thing? including the control assy and actuator cable??

cut the whole thing out and just tied up the cable out of the way.

got a little louder, but I have a Magnaflow dual in/out muffler, it sounds so, so effing sweet, mellow, throaty, not loud and no drone at any speed or RPM.  I had everything from the cats back taken out and made the exhaust into true dual exhaust with equalizer / H-pipe.

are you still using your stock cats?? i need to get a new left side exhaust manifold(headers) and im thinking on getting high flow cats..still thinking between h-pipe or x-pipe..and im thinking on keeping my 2 stock calsonic resonators..

Yes and the stock cats already are high flow cats although it would be nice if they were a little higher up in the chassis. H-pipe, X-pipe, they do the same thing, power difference if any at all is negligible, but X-pipe looks nicer and costs more.

yep, they are standard feature. wired in with the rear defrost according to the wiring diagram.

Weird that they said the mirrors only tilt on the driver's side though. Did they not flip the switch to see that it operates on the passenger side too? It's possible though, I didn't even notice that at first.

Very nice improvement! You need some camber up front to go w/ the rears. You have plates don't you? Mine are maxed out, wish they had a couple more º left in them, maxed at -6.

thanks guys. yeah, def a diff look. i plan on lowering the fronts a lil more to match and adding some more camber too. i have a lil room left to adjust on the megan plates...i'm thinkin -3. i had to have atleast 7mm spacer to clear the coilover, but i'm running 8mm currently. i'll either use the 10mm or 15mm spacer up front once i drop it and camber it in. will keep yall posted once that happens tho! ;)

would a set of 19x9 +25 and 19x10 +35 fit easy on an 03 M45 for winter use? Cheap as dirt until I can either figure out my other wheel/adapter fit

i had 20x10.5 +23 on the rears with like -1.5 camber and dropped a couple inches from stock...and they fit perfect with my roll n mild pull. you'll be more than fine, esp if you're not lowered any.

I've found several Euroline DH in 18" for decent prices too...but I'm afraid thats too small on our cars. Seems everyone is on 19 or 20.

18s will only look good if you slam to hell on them lol  otherwise 19s are easiest to fit up and be low. 20s take some work to get right but get limited by the rears rubbin the fender well :\

You could always check out the FSMs on Nicoclub. I highly doubt that there will be many members that have taken a Y34 apart like that. What do you mean by OEM control? The switch for the mirrors?

Few things I have learned throughout my so called "build" on my Y34


[B]Coilovers (BC specific):[/B]
BC Racing is in the process of creating a kit for us. I know that You can buy Y33 coils blah blah blah but I have been talking to them about making us a straight swap in setup. I have already sent them my OEM stuff and they are working on it. I have recommended to them to make it a true style coilover setup in the rear instead of an OEM style.

To elaborate...when I had my BCs built there was some confusion. So what BC built was as follows: Q45 fronts with spindle upgrade and Y50 OEM style rears. OEM style rears used upper Y50 plates, OEM spring bucket for the spring and Y50 rear bottom mounts. Rear upper plates on the Y50 do not come with pressed in bolts to mount to our car, you have to request it from BC to have them press in the bolts. The Y50 rear upper plate fits perfect. No need to elongate the holes like you would when using Y33 rears.

One thing about the OEM style Y50 rears is that the shock cartridge threaded length is 11inches compared to the Y33 Q45 rear 9inches. Y50 OEM style allowed to go low in the rear but alignment issues arose. With OEM style rears I could not go past -3 camber in rear. The toe just wouldn't go back into spec without eliminating the actual spring bucket and using a spring bucket delete arm.

So I contacted BC and they sent me Y33 20mm shorter shock cartridge and springs to convert to true style coilover in the rear. It is perfect! I could lay the car down on the ground if I wanted to.

So hopefully soon we will get a kit from BC that is a direct swap. I am pushing for BC to make a true rear style coilover instead of OEM style with spring bucket.

I know that for the most part everybody understands that Z32 TT calipers are a straight swap. Akebono's can be swapped in up front with the help of the 350z brake adapters but what about the rears? Here is my theory on the rears. Since the Z32 TT calipers in the rear are a straight swap for Y34/F50 then in theory you could buy the Z32 rear Akebono adapter from CZP or Z1 Motorsports and install the rears. 

I haven't had a chance to test this since I sold my front Akebono swap and can't fit BBK over my VIP Modulars. If somebody was in the process of doing this swap and are willing to try the rear then I would recommend this route...CZP or Z1 Z32 Akebono rear adapters with 240sx SS lines. The adapter runs around $200.

Adjustable rear arms:
[/B]Y34 and F50s can use rear adjustable arms out of  350z or G35. Meaning..toe, camber and radius arms. Now I had an issue where I had to trim down the rod ends to make them fit inside of their respective positions in the rear sub-frame. Hasn't affected the drive ability of the car. I am not sure if we can use the 350z/G35 SPC Eccentric bolts. They do fit but not perfect. I would have to trim the slots in the sub-frame to determine if they will work properly but it is not like I need to since I have full adjustability in rear.

OEM Brakes:[/B]
I am in the process of rebuilding my OEM brakes and have been looking into SS lines for our cars. I believe the SS lines for the non-brembo G35 and 350z should work on our cars but don't hold me to it until I actually try it out. The mounting of the 350z/G35 lines are different than our cars but thread length and banjo setup I believe should be the same.

I'll sell my custom already welded 14k/12k BC coilovers. But I'd need your stock setup.

Thoughts on Eurou areo parts. Quality very good and the kit has a clean look similar to the glanz kit.

Glanz is a lip kit, but that was always one of my favorites.

I would agree if it was silver but the color makes a huge difference. Just not into mimicking / carbon-copy what I see in magazines / internet :shrug:

Honestly was going for an exact replica of the Mode Parfume / SSR Y34, even in silver. Love that car! BUT I got super lucky in finding one in TBP (I was thinking of painting silver in the beginning). Took me a while to find one, and I was bummed when I saw Ming's lol!

Wow, I don't get the replica thing. Why just make your car look like someone elses car? That makes absolutely no sense to me. Even if I bought a kit from a catalog like Mode, I would do different color, different, wheels, something to separate it so you are just straight up copying someone else. It just so happens that MODE and SSR go hand in hand... i mean, even Tanabe (the distributors) / SSR / MODE parfume demo All their products together... Let's not even get into how a GS300 and the JP wheels and kit went banana here in the states..

And if we're on the topic of paint... Blowdesign demo'd a silver car, mines was Diamond graphite (only because I couldn't pass up the deal I got on my car in that color) Because I originally wanted silver anyways haha!

sup guys, I've had my m45 for a year now. its my daily driver. not the cleanest m45. but simple and good looking. im not really trying to go for the flashy Baller look.... well I am, but I don't have that much money lol. so its just on BCRacing coilovers, dropped about 3 inches. sitting on some 5 spoke 350z rims. fronts are 18x8 +30 with a 25mm spacer (+5) rears are 18x8.5 +33 with 25mm spacer (+8) i'm leaving it like this until my drift car is built. i know its not really VIP, i just wanted to share my ride with fellow y34 owners. So I'm thinking about bags on my y34 I currently have y33 Megan coilovers modded to fit my car what's the best way to go about doing a bag set up? Should I pull everything out or just replace my springs with bags on my current coilovers?

Replace spring with bags, get the threaded lower brackets, get an awesome air management package. and you are solid.

Move heard that uas bags in the rears on my Megan's won't work because the bags will rub

im running a g35 setup in the rear....brackets with airhouse1 bags

So aftermarket (battleversion) 350z rear toe link isn't really compatible, maybe it varies by brand but have to trim the bearing sleeve down with a lathe. They are a Little wide to fit onto the bracket.

Has anyone or know anyone who has purchased items through autostyle-usa.com? Thinking about getting a few carefully selected things since shipping is high. They have sweet stuff for the y34.

hi you seem on to it. whats best and biggest size and width wheel i can fit on rear and front of my cedric 2002. im getting wheels like yours allso need some lowering springs that would drop it to say 105mm cheers man

the widest width i have run so far is 10/11" but im not much of a width chaser....id rather run lower offsets if i needed more poke and lip. i am currently running 19x10 all around (-7 up front, -2 out back for offsets) it just depends on what kinda fitment you want and how much camber you want to run.

Okay, so I'm new to the chassis and want to recap from reading through the whole thread.  Let me know if I'm wrong:

-2002+ Gloria front end components will fit on USDM M45s
-2001 and under Cedric front bumper, headlights, and grill are different but will fit if added all together
-Clear "Kouki" Gloria LED tail lights will bolt-on to the M45, but what about the wiring?
-Z32 calipers are 100% bolt-on for the M45 (both 26mm and 30mm?)
-350z/G35 Brembos are also bolt-on for the M45 (no mods or adapters?)
-370z/G37 Akebonos will need an adapter when running the 14" rotors
-Jury is still out on whether some 350z RUCA, traction, or toe rods will fit out of the box, correct? (any confirmation on specific brands?)
-Anyone confirm on the switch for the power folding mirrors yet?

Just picked up a '03 M45 on the cheap and need to get some ideas and plans in the works. Car is black on black. Keeping it simple and clean, drop it, pick out some wheels, dark tint and a trunk lip. I believe the one I like is the [URL="http://nissany34.blogspot.com/"]Mode Parfume version[/URL]. I also really like a Gloria that had the grill painted black...I like it that it didn't have the blinkers in the mirrors too...really clean and simple.

Does anyone know where I can pick up a spoiler? Many the links I have found are dead parts for the cars don't seem in high demand with the low production numbers.

No, buy bags. Good coilovers are expensive.

Ebay always has the BC coilovers for 1250 shipped. Not fully adjustable in the rear. Then there is Largus on ebay too; search: nissan gloria. They are new. soooo... you know. do diligence . cheap like only a grand with spindle and fully adjustable in the rear. Does not say if they come with the front camber plates.
