Has anyone been to Thailand?

Sup guys, has anyone here been to Thailand or Laos? I was born n raised in Northern Cali and have never been out of the country. My moms is forcing me to go to Laos/Thailand for the whole month of November to see my fam. I wont be in BKK but mainly in the north and northeastern region of Thailand and Laos...Chiang Mai, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Vientiane etc. My question is for those who have gone, what should I expect? What cool places should I check out? Hows the broads out there?(No katoey) ... Moms say I have to become a monk for a few weeks livin at a temple to show my respects to my grandpa and uncle that passed. Its gonna be hard cuz my Lao speaking skills are not too good. :pat:

Wassup dude! I was out in Thailand in 2007 for about 3 months and it was fun as shit around the city like BKK and down south where the beaches are. Also, I was up north in Udon where my moms village is at and its straight country. My moms place is all farm and that was there income. So waking up early to cut coconut's off the trees, feed the cows, pigs chickens is all there was out there. And I don't know if your peoples have money but there's no running and/or hot water and no A/C. Basically you might be roughing it from the sounds of where you going

Damn..you'll definately be straight roughing it.  Sorry to say. Yah BBK is the shit and so are the beaches.  Been to Thailand four times so far and each time to a different area..although I've been to BBK twice on different trips, one mainly to BBK for a week and the other to Phuket, but then we went to BBK for the day.

Normally I'd say watch out for the lady boys..hahaha, but where you're going I don't think that'll be an issue...lol!

I was thinking about going out there for a few weeks, to train Muay Thai.  One of my trainers knows someone out there so it should be sweet!

But no, I haven't been there and have no idea what to expect lol

I dont know how its gonna be with out a/c in the country but I think its gonna be a good experience for me...being raised american all my life I always wanted to see what it was like living in the old country just to see how my peoples been doin it for centuries, people out in oakland think they have it hard.  I def want to check out some Muay Thai fights, im a big fan of K1 and combat sports in general. I want to meet Buakaw or Tony Jaa or yodsenklai haha. My cousin told me if you want to train Thai style its gonna be rough, i hear the weathers hot and humid as fuck but i'll toughen you up.  My aunts fam runs a hotel in Laos that a lot of falang go to so shes making some pretty good paper, imma be staying there a lot. 

 it kinda sucks that laos and thailand is pretty harsh on marijuana laws tho. ive been a medical marijuana patient in california for a few years now for my ocd. i know everyone there likes to drink but i dont. i think imma just make some brownies to bring to carry on w/me for the long ass flight. i got some Entourage, breaking bad, eastbound and 150gigs of music to keep me busy.  Im hoping to see a lot of VIP cars.

Yeah, I've heard the training is hard but that's why you go...cause you can't get it here or at least for the same $$$

Good luck though, I'd love to visit my roots too but I never learned Chinese.

I lived in BKK, and man Chiang Mai is way nicer, cooler, not dirty like Bkk and not some many katoey hahahaha

Udon, Chiang Mai are nice, you'll have fun, do some hiking, elephant rides and cave tours and other touristy ish hahaha its fun.

I'd skip Bkk if I ever go back to Thailand

hey good hint for international travel, its really hard to tell a katoey in thailand - but if there elbows are below there waist them 99.9% they were born a man.  A ball check, voice check, adams apple check just does not work - have fun - thailand was the shit - i highly recommend travel
