Question: can you stack spacers?
hey guys... just curious if spacers can be stacked...
like having two or more spacers on one hub
or run a spacer on adaptor or the other way around

yep you can
im assuming you mean stack plate spacers onto extended studs?
ive seen people stack boltons (like 2 30mms to make a 60mm) but i wouldnt reccomend it

you could, but its always a risk. Ive done it before and never had any problems. I ran a 1.3in bolt-on and a 5mm slip on( dumb beater wheels with weak offset hah).

Haha, when my Cima came in it had stacked spacers - 2 x 25mm... The rear wheels were 18x13" with -4 offset so that put it to 18x13 -54!!
I took one set off cos it didnt need them to look flush...

u can stack them but not recommended. you have to make sure that you have enough bolt stud to be safe. you might have problems with vibration everytime you hit the brake. i would just install adapters. its more reliable and safer. thats just my opinion though.

If stacking spacers, it becomes even more important to use quality ones, not those cast universal type spacers that slip around your lug nuts. Bolt-on adapter spacers would still be a better option, and can be machined in most any thickness you need in 1 piece, negating the need to stack anything

Personally would try to stay away from "Double Stacking". I think in the long run it would be both smarter as well as safer if you just got some wheels with the right offset. Single spacer......is understandable and there is nothing wrong with that.......but imagine if you got the wheels with the right offset and didn't have to run ANY spacers.....priceless...just priceless. Just my .02 cents.

my friends and I have driven on stacked spacers for at least 60-70k total in miles.
seems to be alright....
and yeah i do also recommend quality spcaers, you dont want anything ghetto
that has an uneven surface

the guy who does my adaptor says he can get it as thin as 15mm
so i figured I can try out some wheels at +20~+30 offset range
one more question thogh... is there a preference in the order of stacking?
like thicker ones goes in first or last? or it doesn't matter?
i am asking because in case if i still need the wheels to flush after the adaptors are equipped
i want to be sure about what spacers to get - 5x120 (spacer placed before adaptor) or 5x114.3 (spacer placed after adaptor)
the spacers... if i ever need one, should be much thinner than the adaptor

Depending how long your stock studs are, they might protrude pass the adapter when bolted on. If the wheel doesnt have grooves/slits/spacers in between holes you might not be able to clear them. Ive ran 15mm adapters on my 240 and was only able to use them on some wheels. Hope that makes sense, maybe someone will have a reference pic for you.

Hmm actually bmw uses wheel bolts, so stock studs extending past the adapter won't be your concern, but the bolts themselves will be something to worry about... and that might be worse, since they are much larger in diameter than a stud... so you will need to be sure the wheel has pockets large enough in between its mounting holes on the mounting pad to accomodate the heads of the wheel bolts.
Upon further thought, this might be what you will want to do: Get the adapters machined to use socket head cap screws (which are essentially bolts that use a allen hex key) to attach to your hub. Then have the 5x114.3mm pcd machined in, and have M12mm wheel studs pressed in from the back side of the adapter. The hex socket cap screws will lay flush with the adapter so you won't have to worry about your wheels having spacing on the mounting pad etc...
