y33 door light fix

The front passenger door of my car is loose and the step light keeps turning on and off when driving and also when my sub is playing. When i park sometimes even if the door is closed the car says its ajar and the step light is on. this happens when i park at a slant and the only way to lock the doors with my remote is to push on the passenger door in from the outside haha. Does anyone know a fix for this or what bolt to tighten or something. its only the passenger door that does this its bothering me.

Mine did the same thing.  I tried twisting the door by hand and my leg with very minor luck.  
 
However, I found a small disc shaped neodymium magnet in my house randomly.  Placed the small magnet where the switch struck, VOILA!!!  Works like a charm.

I had the problem even when I'd brake hard, or even hit a large bump.

It's probably the internal spring. You can remove the entire spring/switch assembly and either stretch the spring back out as a temporary fix, or replace it with a new one.

Did you adjust the door striker on the body?  Just open the door and whack the striker with a hammer.  Or you could loosen the bolts and move it in little by little.  Hammer method is preferred at the dealer. ;-)

If that don't help, repair or replace the switch like burgy said.

thanks ill try these ideas out when i got time. im pretty destructive with hammers so ill stay away from that one but thanks for all the help

you could just put like a stick on disk that's thick enough but with a little bit of give where the switch and door meet.

of all the ghetto things done on this forum, this is one of the least ghetto, but i get what you're saying.

as for a legit solution, i don't know how the stopper on the door that pushes on the switch is like, but you could find a way to space it from the door more, or buy a new switch. all it is, is that the spring in the switch is compressing and not regaining all of its extended length anymore.

But for all the VIP people who always do it right the first time... i noticed that the plastic cap that covers the little pin switch on this door was deteriorated and was all cracked and broken and wasnt working like the other ones. So for a real fix you gotta replace that cap and if that doesnt work like what burgy said its probably the spring. i dont got time for that so double sided tape works for me :shrug:

I don't mind the tape for a week while you buy the $5.80 part, or even better get one from a junkyard etc, but this fix is SOOOOO easy its weak not to DO IT. I know because I went through it. I had an even harder fix on mine as one of the internal parts was broken so I got one from a junkyard and used parts from both to fix it.  Just saying, it is so cheap and easy there is no reason to not do it right

is the door flush when closed? is the door physically loose?
 
99% its the switch but it could also be door alignment. don't just make the switch work on a f**ked up door.

yeah im pretty sure the spring is getting worn out. the door is flush its just one strip of 3m doublesided tape. next time i go to the junk yard ill try to find a replacement
