I'm new be nice :)

My name is Robin, hail from, reside, squat, mingle around Sacramento, Ca. Was in the U.S Navy and was stationed in Sasebo, Japan, and that was how i was introduced to the VIP styled cars. Do I know enough information on the VIP culture? Nope! i always thought if you dropped your car wide body big snazzy wheels, sounds systems over the OSHA regulated sound decible rated for not impairing your hearing, humongo flat screens and blah blah boo boo it was VIP. i guess i was wrong after reading a lot of posts on here you guys are purests as it seems and kind of sensitive on the subject of what is to be and what is not to be of VIP. and i totally agree this scene is all about attention to detail its not VIP if corners are cut.  i have always been into cars and whatnot but never followed a trend in any of my vehicles. for the most part i left them all stock or close to it. one day i finally decided to purchase a vehicle that was somewhat close to luxury and what came up that matched my budget and taste at the time was a m3 or a cadillac cts. I chose the 03 CTS (base model but whatever) because i liked the boxy b52 styling it had. but yea since then all i have done to it was dropped in full coilover suspension from k-sport (the cheapest of the 3 available for my car, but cadillac tax and voila it hurt to hit the purchase button but oh well...) and little exterior mods (mostly subtle simple stuff) such as smoked  lights, roof spoiler, small trim pieces here and there, 2007 wheels opposed to my ugly 03 ones. am i boring you yet?? seems like this is how i should introduce myself on this very different forum of forums. my vehicle is not a VIP platform and will never be but it will be VIP styled influenced. i dislike the dub styling, big (mostly cheap) ginormous blinged wheels on any car and i see that too many times on other CTS, so i am here to see what you guys think of my car and help give me pointers to influence my idea and make it a possibility. i have gotten plans and whatnots but funds are being given to my loving uncle Mr. Sam. plus i work two jobs doing 12 hour shifts as a power plant operator (yes i work with homer) and also 10 hour shifts on my off days from my main job as a tattoo artist. time isnt my friend and my friends and family are leeches in my bank account. but this new year is looking brighter. anyways enough blah blah crap about me and show you my car?? yea?

since gm is retarded and like to make their lug patterns 5x115 and hubcentric as opposed to lugcentric i had these wheel adapters made to 5x120 so i can accomdate some nice bmw stockers. i know, i know not safe blah blah blah. these were custom made to be hubcentric adapters and are 1.5 inches so when i get the bimmer stockers i will have to pull my fenders out so i can get the flush look. but no funds as of yet for new wheels, so booo...

i thought about getting the cts-v grill but why?? everybody is doing that so i had these painted to match the body blacked out the emblem and added the chrome piece around it so it had the looks of stock but cts purests know the difference when they see i will also be changing the front bumper for a v bumper again when funds become available.

anywhoha hope i didnt bore you guys out enough, come this february the car is going into project status to further satisy my need to make a  VIP styled influenced cadillac, as i have yet to see any done up in that style. i am a big diyer, i take pride in custom work and admire those who do custom work but i am by any means not a body man, fabricator, painter, mechanic, electrician. i will however have access to a body shop and be doing alot cutting, welding, grinding, sanding, filling, greasing, wiring, etc etc by myself an on occasion with the help of sombody who has knowledge in that field i.e my cousin whose shop i will be intruding on ahaha. i hope to make a platform on which other cts owners might want to look upon and enhance to a vehicle whose platform is mostly been that of DUB.

welcome to vsc.  i love love love cts-v's but the base model will do.  i think it will lend it self to the vip styling very well.  please do keep us updated

i think you could make these look siick. just that everything might have to be custom, but if you do it right it would be dope.

let me know when you want to get air runners for it. :biggthumpup: i know theres a body kit out for it... i'll have to look it up. as for the wheels, you can ask companies to see if they'll make a custom bolt pattern for it. might cost a little extra, but at least you'll know its safer.

Nothing unsafe about bolt-on wheel spacers, and FYI pretty much everyone makes their wheels hubcentric, in fact, I don't know of a single company who doesn't.  As you read the site and learn about VIP, you'll realize that tons of us use spacers to get the wheels sitting how we want.

thanks for the positive feedback. thought i was gonna a bashing on my preferance for a vip style vehicle. but yea the only body kit i would consider is from spectre works [url]http://www.spectergtr.com/gallery[/url] but the fender flares alone are 1100... so saving and hoping as most would. nothing much else will be done to the car until february and i will post on how the progress is going. glad to be part of this forum.

The CTS has a lot of VIPStyle potential...I think of it more sporty (like a GS) instead of more luxury...but do your reading and it should turn out fine!

I thought about doing a caddy before. Was thinkn bout one of the 2001+ DeVille DHS or DTS models tho (not CTS). Sitting in traffic one day and a DHS was in front of me. Rear was slammed because fat people were riding in the back. So I was checkn out the fenders, and thought to myself, shit that might actually look pretty nice pulled, rolled, and slammed with proper fitment. Couple months later was on a different island renting a car. Went with the Hotwire "Wild Card" @ $35/day (LOL) and turned out, the only car left was a 2005 DeVille DTS. So I rode that thing around, and it was comfortable as hell. Would definately work for a VIP Styled Car!!! CTS seems more sporty to me, but I think you can still pull it off nice...
