ipad reviews from VSC?

I have read a few different reviews online and was wondering if I can get reviews from you all. I'm thinking of jumping the gun and purchase one. The only thing that is holding me back is the "rumor" of the ipad 2 coming out sometime soon, early 2011. I hear ipad 2 has that new facetime and a camera.

Reviews? pros? cons? suggestions?

I sold mine recently for almost as much as I paid for it

I sold before the price drop that will happen when the iPad2 is announced. Hopefully it will have the front camera and the retina display like my iPhone 4.

If you don't care about a front camera and sharper picture then wait till the iPad2 is released and cop an original iPad for super cheap.

The only way you'd see me w/ one is if
A: Someone got it for me

or

Triangle: I had throw away money and jus need to waste money but seeing as how the Q aint close to finish yet......don't see that happening.

I like the new Galaky one for the fact it's running android

These are jus oversized Ipod touches right?!!!!
What would be the NEED for one?

I did see this one photographer have one and he was using it to show his website and various shoots he did, thought that was pretty legit

I got one as a bonus from my last job, so keep in mind I did not have to shell out $500+ for one while reading this review.

++
pretty fast, convenient for surfing from the couch.

tons of great apps in the store, nice gaming library and it all feels natural on the 10 inch screen.

apple has the best touch screen response period. others are close but this is perfect.

good accessories, I have a case, stand, and keyboard and theyre all well made and snazzy

the netflix app is godly, I would rate it the best netflix experience just on a quality/portability standpoint. (note: NF vid quality is 100% based on your wifi signal)

- - -

expensive for what it is (competitors are closing fast and at cutthroat prices)

STILL NO FLASH, there is a workaround app which decodes videos but its an extra $5 and doesnt always work.

not quite a laptop replacement, give it another 5 years and itll be there. but for now it just doesnt have as much functionality. ultimate couch surfer though.

= = =

If you have larger than avg hands like I do than typing on this thing is a breeze, if you dont youll likely have to prop it on one hand and type with the other, I imagine that could get quite annoying.

Not really all that portable, Sure you can walk around with it but it makes me nervous as hell to walk around in public with it, remember to always look out for thieves and keep both hands with a kung fu deathgrip on the pad.

wifi is so abundant I havent bothered with a data plan, I would recommend saving some bucks and going for the regular wifi version. also maps will still be able to locate your position whether your on wifi or not.

its a large touch, whats not to like?

i dont have one, but everytime ive played with one, ive really liked it. i want one, but not for the prices they are currently selling for. if the ipad2 comes with all the mentioned extras, i can see myself buying one of those.

i sold mine after 2 months -- i also use a macbook air, so your experience may vary. it was more convenient for me to get stuff done by firing up the laptop. once i got the iphone 4, i stopped using the ipad.

it's also pretty damn heavy -- it sucks to hold it upright for long periods.

Considering a tablet from either HP or Toshiba came out almost 4 years ago with the same specs, a removable battery, USB ports.....you are really paying for the name and touch screen. If it makes you feel all warm inside to buy it ( I only have an iTouch because it was a hand-me-down and like 3 weeks old) then go for it.

Realistically, do you NEED one?
WHY do you want one?

There are only 2 reasons that I see getting one would be awesome, and both of those were because people put them in place of their headunit in their car.

THAT would be a cool reason to get one.

Other than that...meh, not for me. But then again, it's the same reason an iPhone isn't for me, I just don't really need it, and care more about battery life and availability to make a call and the durability to throw my phone in the water (literally, I've tested it and thrown it into a pool while on the phone) while making a call, and it being fine.

I read some review online about charging the ipad ONLY on a macbook? I can't find the link anymore but I think the person meant that charging from a macbook will boost the charge of the ipad as opposed to a PC..? Can somebody confirm?

How is the glare when using outdoors? If the ipad2 comes out with facetime and camera, I will wait. I have money to blow since I worked these past few holidays and didn't spend jack buying gifts, I figured I'd by myself a little something something.

dont care about facetime or a camera on a 10" device
i have an ipad and i love it. its more usefull in america due to netflix, hulu, and others than here in saudi, or even here in japan, but i love it
i read all my books, magazines, games, finances, fb etc etc etc on it

i still use my 13" MBP to do content creation, but consumption happens on my ipad

you need a usb port capable of supplying 1000mw, vs the 500mw most usb ports supply. newer apple computers come with high power usb ports. still, with normal usb ports, your ipad will still trickle charge. if you leave it connected overnight with the computer on, it'll be charged by the next day.

i have a 2008 mac pro, and that thing wouldn't charge the ipad, but my macbook air would.
