#363056Another Aus-VIP Cruise
Good evening guysI finally got around to working out some plans for the next cruise!
After hiring 4 forum scientists to study the Ideas thread for 24 hours a day, for a total of 36 days, we came to the conclusion that what people want in the next cruise is a bit of driving with a touch of activities.
Now I know that not alot of the guys do not have the money to spend mindlessly driving around in cars, so I have gathered up a plan that I think will satisfy almost everyone...
When is it? - Ok, so on Saturday the 8th of January, 2011, I am hoping to organize a cruise for all NSW people, weather you are VIP or not, as long as you like VIP you are welcome.
Where is the meeting point? - I have thought long and hard about the first meeting point and thought about somewhere that is virtually guaranteed to have carparks for us, so using the truck-stop at the Berowra southbound exit of the F3, which is also the entry ramp North bound I thought would be the best place for the meeting spot at about 9am for a 9:30am departure, early I know, but its even earlier for us Newcastle folk
Location of the meeting spot can be seen HERE!
So what I was thinking was that Newcastle people meet at Edgeworth McDonalds at 7:30am for a 7:45am departure and travel down to Berowra.
I obviously will not be at the Sydney meeting spot, but if anyone wants to be volunteer for rounding up the troops, I think if everyone met at Thornleigh Maccas at 8:15AM for a 8:45AM departure?
Where to next? - So at 9:30 we will leave Berowra via the old highway and travel to "Pearl Beach" or one of the beaches near there (Ettalong Beach, or Umina Beach) as we will have to see how parking goes. Somewhere around this area would be nice.
Whats for lunch? - All 3 of the mentioned beaches have BBQ facilities, so I think that would be the way to go for the lunch, so as you express interest in the cruise, I will PM you with something that you can bring to the BBQ just to ease up the cost on me, as each cruise to date has cost me $100+ due to supplying food, drinks etc, and with just buying a house, I cannot afford to spend that sort of money again
Not just another boring car drive is it? - Once we find a beach, that is where the games begin!
We will be having a tough man competition, well not really tough man, but there will be beach games, and I am sure we can ask some of the girls to keep the score. You WILL get wet, bring spare clothes and a towel!!!
Some of the games will include
- Tug-of-War
- Capture the Flag
- Hole-in-the-Bucket Relay
- Touch Football
- Vortex Throw-off
- Volley Ball if I have enough money to buy it
- Spoon and Egg race
- Blind-fold taste testing
- Leg balloon relay
Anyway, there can be plenty more, but they are just some games that I thought of, and I think it would be ALOT of fun for most people to participate in :)
Oh wow, what's next? - After the games, I thought it would be a good chance to go check out Mangrove Creek Dam as I hear it is a nice drive out there, and a good view when you get there.
Mangrove Creek Dam is located Here
Surely there can't be more? - And IF we have time, we might take Peats Ridge Road back to Berowra and head down to Dusthole Bay at the bottom of Berowra Waters Road, I have been on that road, and it is spectacular scenery, well worth the drive and awkward bends!
Ok, so on that note, express your interest here please!
As usual, a small list of things to bring...
1- Sunscreen!
2- Swimmers
3- Towels
4- Snack food, plenty of water etc.
5- UHF Radio with spare batteries
6- Full tank of Fuel at Berowra
7- Camera
Note - Please try to bring a UHF, it was rather stressful last cruise with the people who did not have one, you can pick them up for a very low price from your local Dick Smith type of stores, You can easily get change from $30 and they are a great investment for cruises.
Hopefully we will get as good of a turnout as we have on previous cruises!
Be safe for christmas, and everyone have a fantastic new years celebration!
Please check back on this first posts for any updates, I will make sure they stand out to grab your attention.
