3 piece wheel making noises after re-assembly

i took my 3 piece maya rt5's apart to paint the spokes.  Made sure to torque everything down correctly and in order (cross pattern).  on one of the wheels, i snapped 1 bolt and stripped another one, so its missing 2 bolts.  i thought it was ok since i had all the other bolts on there.  when i mounted and drove, that wheel is making a loud metallic ticking or pinging sound as the wheel rotates.  I'm still trying to locate the the bolt that snapped.  I stripped the groove so i can't put the other bolt in, since its the one that screws into the barrel, on the backside.  i'm just lost so can anyone recommend what i can do to solve this?  anyone experience this before.. thanks guys!

hmm very strange. maybe the broken stud is inside the wheel/tire assembly. dismount the tire and check. only explanation i can think of

what did  you torque the rivets too?   You aren't suppose to do alot....  they say you are suppose to use new nut and bolts but people have reused there old hardware.   What I remember is you don't torque them that hard...just like 20-25lbs or so.    I would also use some blue loctite just incase.   Also did you put back the exact same face back on the same barrel it came off from?    Is it only coming from one corner?   Did you try rolling on different wheels to rule out the possibility that something is wrong wtih the brakes/suspension?   I wouldn't run on them until you find out.   Then take the face apart again and inspect any unusual wear.   good luck!

When reusing bolts u need to only toque to a MAX of 20ft/lbs. New is about 22-25 ft/lbs. 

Blue locktite on every bolt and you will be set. Did that for every wheel ive took apart and rebuilt, no issues. :biggthumpup:

unless you destroyed a barrel and bought a 3pc barrel?

he just took the faces off to paint them. no rebarrelling or anything.

is the crackling or ticking maybe the paint cracking?

Check to see that there aren't pebbles in your tires. Those will cause a clicking noise, apparently

The assembly hardware is probably over-torqued. The bolts stretch a little every time you torque them; if they are over-torqued they can begin to yield (fail). I would replace all the hardware.
