Disadvantages of running a 4 valve system VS 8 valve syatem??

Ok, I'm about to start installing the air suspension on my G50 and wanted to get some opinions on how this should be done.

I would prefer as little plumbing/hardware as possible, less chance of leaks and failure points.

Now my question is I rarely see guys only running 4 valves (2 that control the front and 2 that control the rear) are there any disadvantages to runnning this setup? This to me makes life easier, there are only 2 gauges to worry about, 2 switches to worry about, etc.

Any insight is apperciated as I'm pretty green when it comes to air!

personally i'd only run 8 valves for fbss. anything less is pointless. you can run fb or ss if you want, but you have to remember your bags will be connected so the pressure will shift from one bag to the other under cornering and braking.

Ahh, ok that makes more sense.

I never thought of that.. haha I really am green to the air suspension world.

So 8 valves is what I'll need to run... ok thanks for the help!

the only reason i recommend side to side is ride leveling. if there is other adjustment (i.e. bags over coilovers) ride height can be tweaked and evened out. in that case i prefer f/b for cost/size/simplicity.

So you're saying handling isn't effected by just running f/b?

4 valves is awesome for me...really don't need side to side...kinda pointless imo...i drive the benz like an old man anywaso i'm not hittin' corners all mean...simple to plumb, cheaper, can't tell as far as ride quality, easy to troubleshoot...

i can niether confirm nor deny. i can say i've never personally noticed one being siginificantly better than the other, although the weight transfer argument makes sense. coming up everyone had f/b.

my stance is if handling was a priority air bags wouldn't be your suspension of choice anyway. i fell you'll be fine either way.

I ran a F/B 4 Valve system on my old suspension setup (Air Cylinders) and I hated it. It rode terrible. The Air pressure is pretty much shared between the 2 cylinders (Front set and Rear set) and so when you turned, the air pretty much shifted and you knew you were turning lol.

We tried an 8 valve and it rode so much better. Didn't feel like I was gonna hit the ground when I turned.

For a Cup setup, then obviously, 4 valve is fine but when it comes to holding the air pressure inside the bags / cylinders, I personally wouldn't go 4.

Disclaimer, I've only had 2 type of suspension setups in my entire build. I could be wrong cause I never ran a F/R setup with something like UAS or Air Runner. With my Cylinder setup, 4 valves ride and handling was terrible. 8 valves, then it became bearable!

Haha.. ok it sounds like there are a lot of different opinions/experiences out there.

I have 8 valves now but I think I'm going to try out 4 first and see how it works. If it rides crappy, I'll switch to 8! haha

Thanks for the help/insight guys :)

If you're trying to minimize plumbing & wiring why not go with a manifold instead?

You'll have more suspension travel with a 4 valve setup. With 8 valves it will be more balanced.

I had my same set-up with 4 valves and 8 valves, and I know I will never run 4 valves again. Handling is greatly affected.

I have 4valve system also and it is horrible! It sits even but when you drive it feels like an old cadilac with no sway bars lol and I got upgraded swaybars and 16way adjustable struts I'm upgrading to a 8valve manifold

real question is do you have a LSD in your car?
If not, run 6 valves, otherwise run 4
