Do people usually run 19" or 20" on Y33s?

Very new to the scene with a 99' q45 of my own and was just wondering what people usually ran with just coilovers (no bags)? 19"? 20"?

Most run 19's. Very few run 18's or 20's, but they are out there.

thanks for the input. I'm liking the look of the 19's myself not too small, not too "dub-ish" How do the 19's ride on stretched tires? hopefully not too bad. I hear people use 18's so they can use a thicker tire for comfort

Won't lie to yea bro, I feel EVERYTHING on the road in my 19s streched
And good job noticing that alot of 18 cats do run a fatter tire all around. Amazes me cause I would love to run a fatter tire but can't, gotta go as small as I can
 
18s still and will always look way too small for this car in person. Pics and everything it won't but in person and next to cars w/ 19s you can tell.
Most do 18s though because you can get max low and wide which is what everybody is after

I have wanted to tub, and shorten the suspension links ect to get way wider wheels.. not hot rod style but close to it

I have had both and like 19's better, allowed me to go lower and 20's just look too big

Let me rephrase that. If you have a kit or plan on one then 20s are the way to go. With stock bumpers id stick to 19s. 18s are for civics. To me the bigger wheel while still getting pretty low to the ground is what wins.

i feel exactly the opposite -- a lot (but not all) of cats in japan are rocking super small wheels on their big bodies. i remember seeing a couple of ucf30's, which looks wayyyyy bigger than a y33, rocking 19's. i think stock body can pull off 18's and kitted you can do 19's, but i haven't really seen a y33 do 20's well unless it was flared and radiused.

Yea, I realize a lot of people on here are all about what japan is doing lol. I just like big wheels, thats all.  Of course there is a such thing as too big. We see a lot of examples in our city, everything here is on 22s.

20" is looking beasty though. 19's do look like it flows a little better in my opinion.

20s are too big IMO

19s and 18s are what's up.

Since when is rolling 18's "NEW".  I've been hearing the 18's best, 19' nice, 20's blingin since I  got into VIP Years ago????

Getting low is partly a function of tire size... 235/30-20 = same overall as 235/35-19.

I prefer how the larger wheels fill the wheels up at 9 and 3 o'clock when viewed in profile.

For me, 18s look a bit too small on these cars.

So in regards to width size now, for y33's I've only been seeing a max of 10.5 in the rear. Is it possible to go wider without flaring the fenders?

some of us are running 12" wide wheels in the rear with stock fenders........

If you can only find 10.5" max in the back you haven't seen enough!

now this is the truck scene mentality im used to right here.:biggthumpup:  had 18's on my integra, would feel like im half stepping running the same size on my rl.

:hsughwerdv7: my 19's with a stretch are still a 1/2'' higher in diameter than the 20's i used to run.  in some cases, its more about tire sizes and the practicality of them over the height of your car.


 to my surprize i do see some cars (mostly from japan) that pull of the smaller sizes rather well though,  i guess it really boils down to the kind of wheel and lip combination. some wheels just look bigger than they really are. thats usually the ones i tend to like the most.

yeah dude, but look at his ride height....it is a truck. without his kit it would be stock height

it depends on if you want to drive dumped, or park dumped. 
if you want to drive dumped, we use smaller sizes. if you wanna fake the funk they use larger sizes cause it looks spiffy sometimes dumped on large wheels. but im a fan of drive low and park lower. i shove 18s in the wheel well on my y33 when i had it

they're all good. it isn't right or wrong, it's about what style you like and how well you execute it.
