Guys, as VIP enthusiasts i dont recommend going to TAS like its some sort of Mecca that has to be experienced at least once before you die.
First its a miserable time of the year to come to Japan, unless you like skiing/snowboarding (in which case i am sure there are cheaper places to do that in the US). And secondly, while it is a great show, with lots of interesting cars, its not "mindlblowing". There were 600 cars at this event, probably less than a 5th were vip cars. Compare that to the Sessions Platinum VIP event in July, with 600+ VIP cars. Or the K-break event which had close to 1300 cars (VIP, wagons and Kei - but 99% of them done in vip styling).
Plus, the presence of the models, and the subsequent swarms of undersexed camera-geeks who come to photograph them (seriously they wouldnt take a single car picture), and it gets somewhat annoying.

I would recommend the Sessions event, plus a trip to UpGarage/SuperAutoBacs/FujiCorporation if you want to experience Japanese tuning culture and buy some cool bits to take home

I havent been to SIS but i imagine it would be the same but not as many people. That pic above is on Friday, when its supposed to be alot quieter than the Sat/Sun...

All i know is that at the vip car shows there are no models and no retards wearing army trenchcoats that look ready to break down and go on a killing rampage (but instead of knives, they are toting a Canon 1D with Professional series telephoto lens to really capture the essence of that girls boob).

Vip shows tend to attract *only* vip enthusiasts (i.e. they spend all their money on cars), so the only people with decent cameras there are usually magazine photographers :D
