am i vip now?
So. I got a y33... 2000 year. The q45 is perfect, except 4 17 inch wheels.. Honestly I like the ride, the system is ok 4 factory, but that's coming out, this I da ?... this car floats on normal settings, and when I push that button it truly firm up... that's something I don't want 2 lose, if I leave the sus alone ,and focus on wheels, curtains, system,is car still vip?

maybe you should stick around, read, and learn more about the style overall and see where it varies from your perceptions before your start asking questions.

To specifically answer your question....the answer would be no, and here's why: Stance is a huge aspect of the vip styling culture. One of the major thing vip buffs pride themselves on is their stance. Without a good looking stance, you can't really consider yourself vip because a good looking stance requires you to be pretty low.....much much lower than what you're planning on doing. Hope that helps.

WAT??
There's more parts for Y33 than most other cars usually used for vip styling. And why only an inch..that's not even going to be noticeable.

Romeo I understand. Right now, I have a decision 2 make. This car will b used everyday, and as much as I like the looks of a droped y33. I have 2 b real. In the tri state area. Roads r not kind to cars, also my family membersgot 2 deal with a lowered car, that is going 2 b hard on them also... trust me I get the stance thing, but this is my only car.

If you are really looking to get into the style, I would suggest Bags. Coils would be great for a static setup, but as you've said before, due to the roads and all, being that low really isn't justified.
With bags, you can obtain the 'stance' that many enthusiasts say are necessary yet at the same time have to adjustability to sit higher when need be.
Personally, if you are really worried about the height, then maybe you really should take a second look at emulating the style. Not trying to be an ass about it, but you would be pretty hard-pressed to get a definitive response on such a subtle drop. If you aren't trying to scrape till your muffler falls off, very few members will help (i kid veterans).
Also parts aren't necessarily hard to find. If anything, you can find an alternative using the S-chassis cars (there should be a thread about swapping S13 and S14 parts over).
Stick around, increase your knowledge of the style, and decide where you want to go.
Welcome to the boards.
P.S.
Don't let the purists drive you away. They may seem harsh at times, but they mean well. They'd rather you do your setup 'once' to save yourself some money than to follow in their shoes when there wasn't much help and end up spending thousands upon thousands just to find that 'stance'.

hahahahaha i was just messing with you, you seem to have the basics down just need some help with specifics. I agree with most above, go air bags and then have preset heights for "other" drivers in the family to save you from costly repairs if they have to use your car!

for suspension now you have lots of choices.
for oem there is megan right now, and powerbymax in a couple of months,
then there is 240sx/s-chassis suspension.
and that is just coilovers. that doesn;t include cups, or air bags. you have lots of options, and we all have bad roads somewhere. good luck with your build

Hay sic!! Lol!!! That car did not look sexy at all... I got 2 c about bags, and alex 2 b honest, this car is an upgrade 4 me. I really don't c how parts 4 s-13,14 works 4 a big boy car like this. I just totalled my 96 lowered integra dc2, b 4 I dropped car 2inches, I had no problems. After the drop I had 2 make sure parts wasn't falling off while driving. I know u guys kno what I'm talking about. Should I b selfish, and not care about passengers comfort in my car?

hahah. fccccck. i didn't even notice he was doing that. =( i grew up with too many tippies in High school. aT LeAsT He'S nOt TyPiNG LiKe ThIS.
anyway, back on topic... i think i was in the same shoes you were in when i first started. I wanted to be dropped, but i didn't want to sacrifice comfort when i had my family on board. and springs alone never made sense to me since they weren't low enough. i didn't want to have to worry about always adjusting my coils..... and that's why i got Air Runner. =) i could put it at stock height if the wifey wanted to drive it (even though she drives just as low as i do now) and i could drive it dumped when the roads were appropriate for it (actually even when they aren't).

My brain hurts from reading these posts, but hey, listen to what these guys are saying. Pretty much everyone got the same concerns... Bad roads, ride comfort, drivability for a daily car, etc. You are not asking for the impossible. But there is a catch. You gotta be willing to spend the cheese to have your cake and eat it too. Just don't forget the blueberries (thats what she said) But yeah, the car can be setup to address all these concerns you have. Thing is, it's probably not going to be cheap when you're talkn adjustable suspension. Very different from the Honda/Tuner/Whatever scene. You're lookn at grands into your suspension. So you really gotta decide what you want to do. Either you go all in and achieve the look you want (Adjustable), or you sacrafice some of these concerns to do it cheaper (Static Coilovers), or you might as well just keep it mild and be content being semi-stock (Drop Springs). Which is fine. Shit, I drove a semi-stock F50 for years and it was still pretty fly. The girls be askin "Is this a rental??" hahahaha Its up to you.... I would start with coilovers but thats just me ...
