Hello from NC

sup, i'm Alex

I have a 1997 Toyota Avalon that I bought with the intention of fixing and selling, but the car is so clean in stock form that it makes me want to try my hand at styling it.  Not big on the fwd, or the weak looking front end of these cars, but with a new front end (lip or whole bumper), and some coilovers and wheels to give it some stance, it could possibly look very unique.  

My familiarization is more on the performance side of autos, miatas specifically, so this is all new knowledge for me.  I will have to do some research to figure out what size wheel to go with, (stock is 15 I think) I'm guessing 18 or 19???  Stock offset I have no idea.  I figured I could measure it but if anyone knows and wants to chime in I'd really appreciate it.  I saw a dude on here that said he had JIC magics on his avalon so I guess I will count them as a possibility, and I will need to find some classy front-end aero to consider.  

All in all, I'm wide open to suggestions and just want to figure out what the best route to take is.  I wish that it were a Lexus LS that I was looking to flush out then this would probably be a ton easier, but I have to work with what I got.  If I really just have no luck with styling this car, then I can always just sell it as stock and forget it.  Thanks in advance for all the suggestions!

Welcome to the forum man.  Honestly, with this car, it just depends on how much money you want to dump into it to make it look dope.  In Thailand, I see guys making normal Toyotas like Camry's look ridiculously sick.  So the sky's the limit, it's really up to you.  But overall, if you're not looking to drop a bunch of money on this car, and you feel you would be better off with starting with an easier car to work with...........I would just sell it.  It's not going to be easy to mod an avalon since it's not very popular, but then again, you can't put a value on being unique.

Hey Alex! Welcome! I was in the same boat as you dude, I was gonna get my sister's avalon for free and I thought about stancing it right off the bat. I got around the forums online and found this guy who has done what you are describing on toyotanation.com. Hes a friend of mine now,  but I was in the same position as you. If you want to go low in an avalon the thing is it wont LOOK low even though its actually lower than most cars. What i mean by this is that the subframe on the avalon/camry for that generation have a extraordinarily low subframe so when you do lower the car you will be lower than you look.
