Best way to modify plastic bumpers?

I took my car to a local body shop to get some estimation and to see if they can do some fender work for me. The guy says he has no problem widing out my fender flares but my concern was that it sounded like he didnt know how he would follow the flare to the plastic. On the bumper how would we go about that to getting the bumper to follow thru with the metal work? He was telling me that he can widen out the fender and make it blend into the stock bumper. I think that would look kinda shitty. Would you just cut and add some fiberglass to work with the plastic bumper or is there another way?

all depends on how far your flares are gonna be. reach under there and see if there is enough room to drill another hole next to the corner ones that hold your bumpers to the fender and 1/4's...sound like you've got something up your sleeve =)

The flare on the metal fenders will come out about 2-2.75" all round. And i want the flare to follow thru to the bumper on down. But they guy didnt have a clue on how he can tackle the bumper since it is plastic. Yup i took off my wheels and im looking for the socket that holds my revits on the wheels. trying to do suuuuummin lol

If you're paying a shop to do work on your car, and it seems like they dont know what they're doing, you should really think twice about taking your car there. Take it to a shop that has experience with the type of work you want, along with examples of previous work done so you can see the quality. Otherwise you risk paying for work that you won't be happy with in the end, and I'm speaking from my own past experience.

plastic welding or 2 part plastic repair. maybe thin material covered in resin to make the shape if there's a lot of new area needed.

Who makes the 'good' 2 part plastic repair?  I always just get the stuff at napa.  Is there like 'chronic' 2 part plastic repair out there?

Im not letting that shop do the work for me. I found a hot rod body shop that is going to do the work for me so its on! Waiting for it to warm up a little bit so i can take my car to get estimated. I was thinking also about making some kinda resin mold to flow with the metal work but i think im in good hands.

i truly believe in speed grip with fiberglass woven matting.

the woven glass' thickness is consistant throughout rather than the drop mat which is just strands thrown ontop each other. 

when modifying your bumpers, if you do cut it, make sure you dont leave any edges bc it may crack at that place. rather i like to "feather edge" it so its a gradual incline with no corners.

after that i would use more glass matting on the exterior to close up the gap that was cut out and lay it down like an upside down triangle.

next i would follow up with some 80 grit then lay a nice layer of filler primer over the top with flex additive in it so it doesnt crack. 

sand then spray.
