VIP noob checking in

Hey VSC, I'm a newer member but have been lurking the site for the past 2 years. 
 
I do not own a VIP car or even a VIP platform but its a style I find really interesting and would like to learn more about. I am currently a member on K20a.org and Honda-Tech.com and yes you guessed correctly, I drive a honda. I own an Integra with a K20 swap and daily drive a Camry. I'm looking to pick up a VIP platform sometime in the near future, I'm pretty set on an LS400 as a cheap platform, but am considering a W220 Mercedes and am only being turned away by the lack of support compared to japanese VIP platforms.
 
All in all I can see that VSC is a pretty tight knit and supportive community and its something Id like to be a part of, thanks.

That's odd, I think there's plenty of support for Mercedes.  Question is, can you afford to build it like you'd want to.

I wasn't worried so much about money since we all know this isnt cheap, itd just be nicer to get a cheaper platform since I would want everything redone anyways. I just can't justify spending tons of a cash on a newer Benz or Lexus and then tearing it apart for some aftermarket parts that are worth less than the factory parts I'm getting rid of. I know I'm a honda guy but that doesn't mean I pick up fake parts all day and cut corners. We're all automotive enthusiasts, we all share the long nights in the garage getting that last thing done in time and waiting for that paycheck to come in so we can pick up the next part for our ride.
 
I may be wrong about the lack of support for mercedes but from what I've read that was just the way it seemed to me. If the aftermarket support for mercedes is bigger than what I originally assumed it'd be a huge plus for me. My family has always revolved around them. Currently, Father drives a 98 CL600 and a 07 S600, Uncle drives an 06 S600, Cousin Drives a 09 E350 and is a Master mercedes tech.
 
And then theres me with the Integra and Camry...
 
I personally the like the LS400's boxy shape more than the 430. 460 is defintely out of my price range, but then at the same time I like the sleek looks of the W220 and W221 more than older generations. W221 is too expensive for me but I could definitely do a W220, problem is I can't find enough examples that make me want to bite the bullet for one.
