Negative Camber

Who is running crazy negative camber on coils?  
How is the drive for you? feel safe or dangerous?  
Do you feel any fishtail in the rear when driving in the rain? If so, at what speed do you feel it?

I'm running at -2 camber in the rear and feel the fishtail in the rain at speed 50mph.. It mostly due that I need new tires.

-2 camber is not crazy at all. and new tires should fix your problem. i run at least -5 ion the rear have no problem at 70mph

if you fishtailing you need new tires. 

i run somewhere in the neighborhood of -5* camber and i dont fishtail at those speeds in any rain.

Hehe...is this for real?  I mean, if it is...wow.  What have you NOT been reading this past year on the forums??

-2 is generally within factory range lol. So yeah, your problem is tires. I'm running -4 all around, my back tires are pretty shot, but I don't fishtail in the rain unless it's intentional hehehe

-5.5*/-9* no fishtailing unless i'm braking HARD but i'm sure that another issue with the suspension haha

i  think the tires has to do alot about fishtailing....  if you think about it even with correct alignment but bad tires will make your car lose grip in the rear and front.  Like everyone said -2 isn't that much.   Some cars you can get that much just by the stock adjustment bolts.   The guys above talking about more aggressive than -2 are using aftermarket or custom arms.    I'm sure even some race/track cars have around -2 camber and you don't see them fishtailing unless intentional.

I know -2 is nothing and i know my problem is my tires, I'm just seeing what most negative camber you are running and when you feel the fishtail... So far, avg is -5..

i drove in the rain recently at 80+ with 4.5 camber and car feels fine. tires are new tho

If you're fishtailing at -2, your toe adjustment is probably off. I have no alignment specs but I don't fishtail lol

And toe is also what's KILLING your tires.  Camber doesn't waste tires, it only determines where the wear will occur.  Toe scrubs the tires causing excessive wear.

When you're running only on the inner edge of the tire (which is thinner), then yes, camber will drastically shorten the life of your tire.

I also think it's good to run a bit of toe in when running a lot of camber (rear). My car comes from the factory with 0.25 degrees of toe-in (rear) and I have zero'd it out before but then the car behaves quite a bit more erratically over uneven surfaces... it will catch on random lines on the freeway and pull you towards it.

I'm running -8.5 degrees in the rear and -6.5 degrees in the front (show car) and it is a bit odd to drive - not gonna lie. I haven't had too many problems with fishtailing including driving in the rain, but extremely bumpy freeways can be a little unnerving. On top of that, I always run good tires.

Thanks providing that good info, are you running on air or coils?

ive driven on -12.8 camber on coils..you wont fishtail if your tires have tread...however, you do lose a lot of feeling of the road, if that makes sense.  ive heard it described as "riding on rails" and it really does feel that way.  i personally didnt feel 100% safe but i did it anyways lol.  as for catching lines and cracks in the road, i definately agree with that.

[/QUOTE]Excessive camber to the point where you're riding on the side wall well yes, but flipping tires from opposite wheel to the other gives you an almost new tire on the other side..it's what I do.  And yes, that amount of toe in the rear IS normal, but that's obviously not what I'm referring to.  I'm sorry I assumed you would know that, my bad.  If you want me to go into detail about suspension acumen I will...

It's simple, you've limited your contact patch drastically.  Imagine driving with Geo Metro wheels..

had no idea the plat vip aristo was pushing that much power..i always seen the fat ass turbo, but damn, thats sick!

You have to kinda take into consideration that the car is probably not driven at that height(air suspension/cups..I don't remember what that car had on it) so the camber does push out a bit when raised. And if the other suspension specs are dialed in and on point, your tired wear won't be as bad. Toe eats up tires more than camber.

Umm pretty simple I have software that lets me do those types of things.  So based on the relative angle between other objects in the picture I came up with roughly 11*.  Whether it is 11* or not Im not certain.  Just based on the picture thats what I get.
