what i don't like about VR is that some of their wheels are partial refinishes ..
:signdammit: it either a perfectly refinished rim or a bent up beat to shit rim , VS good lips and barells and fuck up faces .. and then the new owner has to re do them all over cus they were to lazy to re finish the faces
Nice wheels good lips but the clear coat is dead .... in this case

very true kingpin, but fortunately i would refinish myself or have them powdered a cream color to match interior. VR/Rb whatever you want to call them seems to have always had that rep, to me they are a good source to find relatively good sized wheels and refinish personally or through another shop.
I would refinish and have them powdered cream. =)

I agree with the canuck. I bought some koenigs from them that I already knew I would be rebuilding butwow the condition was terrible. The rear lip on one or two is cracked, all caps need to be redone and several cap bolts were missing.
The faces were peeling but I was just glad they weren't cracked. On top of that, they were asking 2100 on their site and they only did 1800 shipped for them which I thought was ok, upon getting them I think 1500 or less would have been more fair.
Can't say I was too surprised either, back when they were rbwheels their wheels were being sold in such shitty condition too. I doubt I will ever buy shit from them again unless its super cheap and I just cant possibly come across it any where else.

You guys have to understand that they purchase their wheels from junkyards in Japan. Some of their wheels come off of totaled cars. Also, their in house polishing = mounting the wheel onto a modified wheel balancer and then holding sand paper up to it. That's why it comes out like shit.
They changed their name because Nissan came out with a new GT-R engine. (RB -> VR) The company didn't change at all.

I understand that, and I'm sure they are getting them for a few hundred dollars from the junkyards and turning a nice profit.
I just think they could do a better job at pricing their selection more accordingly or atleast work with offers they get. I really didn't want to pay more than $1600 for the wheels considering I only wanted donor faces but that didn't happen.
Eitherway for the price they should have atleast come ready to roll on. I'm not even mad at them, I just wouldn't do business with them again. I'm more mad at the fact that I slept on some local 19 inch koenigs WITH tires in 9/10 condition with much nicer sizing that cost the same price as what rb charged me for some salvage wheels. Can't really shake the feeling of being ripped off.

I've been there plenty of times and I've purchased plenty of wheels from RB, when it was still named RB, and that's the absolute truth. They don't do anything special when polishing the wheels other than sanding the f*ck out of them on that modded balancer. I would personally get them refinished elsewhere.
As far as them changing their name to VR, that's great info, alexisthemovie. Thanks for the clarification on that. Wouldn't have been to hard to figure if I just thought about it. Lol.
About 4 years back, I purchased my 16x8.5/9.5 Work Miester SP1's for my Starion and they were listed for $1k. I went there with cash in hand and I was able to get them for $650. About 2 years ago I went for some wheels for my s13. I purchased some 17x9.5 17x10.5 Work VS editions for $800 when their asking price was $950. Now they won't even discount it a hundred dollars off of their asking price. Times are tough so I wouldn't blame them. The rims do come off of junked cars so I guess we're expected to understand they may not be in the best conditions. Nonetheless, I've yet to come across a bad result when buying wheels from VR. Whoever buys these wheels just needs to put a little tlc into them and they'll be perfect.

I did not expect this to turn into a debate....but phaze2 mizzark brings up the point I agree with, your buying used wheels, expect work, if not a lot to make them perfect.
Is anyone actually going to buy? If not, maybe I will be able to save cash up and pick up. =)

I'm only 3 hours away from there and if you give them cash they lower their online price by a few hundred. Every time I find a set of Work Equips they're sold in a day or two before I can get them :(

Just send them a deposit on paypal and they should hold the wheels for you if you want to pick them up.. And you'd still get your cash discount. That's what I did whenever I bought a set from them. They even held some wheels for me when all I could leave was a deposit for a couple days til I was able to come back with cash.
