Seattle Y34
Hello VSC, just checking in with my 2003 M34. Had it for a little over a year now, just gotten around to lowering it and getting some new wheels. With the help of the y34 owners on here, i decided to get some Megan Coilovers. I put them on and lowered the rear as far as I could and brought done the front as well. Must say I have been impressed with the ride, feels almost like stock on the softest setting. Then, I picked up used set of DPE S20 wheels for a good price and refinished them. I powdercoated them to match the grey trim in the interior, got new lips and titanium hardware, and mounted them up. They are 20x9"et23 front and 20x10.5"et22 rear, rolled an pulled the fenders, and still rub, lol! I am rubbing the tops of the fender, so I might have to raise it at some point. Anyway, on to the pictures:

Strange. I have 20x10.5 +20 with 255/30/20 Ventus V12 on the rear of my F50 and the rim tucks under the fender with just a roll. Looks like you need more neg camber.

Thanks everyone, it's a work in progress. Im actually rubbing on the top of the fender, not on the fender edge/lip. They tuck up under nicely with 2.5° camber, which is the max I want to run, because my next mod is a 3.69:1 VLSD rear end from a 300zx. I'm tired of leaving only one black strip when leaving a stop. The lower gearing means it will spin the tires even easier then it does now , so I want to put as much of the 265's on the road as I can.

I am rocking 20x10.5 +28 with a 285 30 20 on AR with lots of room So some camber might not be a bad idea

Very nice Y34 ! yep a lil more camber and slight pull and a lil more tire stretch will be the ticket. I cut the rear lips instead of rolling and pulled the upper well a tad with max factory camber on mine. Running a 10.5 with a 245/35 and +13 offset

Very nice look. I'm surprised that's as low as it goes though.
I have read they didn't come with LSD, but I wonder then, how is it that when I do a burnout, both wheels spin? I took a tape we have at work (100') and measured a 92' long burnout, both wheels spun almost the whole way, but the right side probably stopped leaving a mark about 2 or 3 feet before the left side did. I figure w/o LSD you'll only leave one stripe like you said, but I promise, whenever I do it, I leave 2 matching stripes. I'm going to replace my rears soon cause they've been flipped and are pretty bald now, when I do, I'm going to destroy them and get a vid lol.
Anyhow, ride looks very nice!

Thanks again everyone, and thanks for the advice, I'm going to mess around with the camber and fenders to get rid of the rub.

I was suprised that was as low as it goes as well, but then again I already seem to bottom out on the top of the fenders over large bumps in the rear.
I can spin both tires when I power brake, but I have never left 92' long stipes, that is awesome!! I figured the VLSD would help out, and if I ever decide to get sideways, it will be a little more fun=)

The megan has a 7 inch 8lb coilover spring on the top sus. A couple of ways to get it lower. Adjust the preload, get some mms or change out your front spring to something smaller than whats provided stock if u want to go lower.
Someone should try these and let me know :)

I read the service manual and it said our cars have a "brake lsd". When one tire starts spinning, the brakes are applied to that tire and power is transfered to the other wheel. I think i read it in the service manual, might want to check.

a shorter spring will not lower the car on a full tap coilover without sacrificing travel unless the issue is the lower spring perch binding to the lower bracket before the lower bracket bottoms out (which does seem to be an issue on y33 coilovers).

looks cool. i think color matching the bottom of the lip and mayb around the rear sensors would really change the overall look of the car.
