Who Got Baby Seats?

Hey guys, I have a lil man on the way and am in the market for a baby seat...

Wondering what you guys run, and if you could take a pic?

I am looking for something mostly/all Black colored and nice looking, but obviously has to be safe.

And since they will be newborn size, it can't be a booster seat like the JP one, it has to be rear facing as well.

What I currently have is an Eddie Bauer seat, got it from Target for around $100. Easy to take in and out, as plenty of adjustment and cushioned support. Fits the black/grey theme you are wanting. Obviously its not as baller as a Recaro or JP...

My boy is almost 5 and I've had him in a Recaro Vivo booster about 1 year. It's super quality, looks bitchin and really comfy. Got another on the way and looking at what kinda baby seat to get for her. Most likely going with Recaro again, they're hard to beat. Eddie Bauer are nice, the guy at Babies R Us told me they're Cosco seats.

^Which recaro are you lookin at....the one I first posted?

I know it's not a big deal to me, to take out the whole chair when its go time, but the wife might not enjoy it as much

I am trying to find the second one to buy but can only find them in Europe...maybe its because they aren't safe enough for the US market?

Ok, a few questions.  

1. Do you want a baby seat that can integrate with a stroller?

2. Is this your first child?

If you want one that integrates and has some flair..get a Quinny Buzz 3 system.  One of the best investments we made.  Don't worry about wanting a seat for everything as they won't be comfortable later in life.  

After outgrowing the Quinny, we got a pair of Recaro toddler/child seats. They are good for like 20-130 lbs.  I have the Recaro Young Sport Pro in my Jag and it's a great seat and it's certified in the US as well.

The stroller integration is a bonus but not a necessity....we already found a stroller we really like, so that's why its a secondary motivation, in case we like that stroller better than the one we found already.

Yes, our first kid so I am a little overwhelmed with the choices.  

I'll take a look at those Quinny's....I figure a Recaro is in the future, so just need something from birth to appx one year or whatever they grow to

That's exactly what to do..and it's usually around 1 year old or 20lbs.

You'd love the Quinny Buzz 3 and it's super convenient, very light, and easy to use.  We got compliments and comments about it everytime we were out.  And it converts also as your child grows.  Very cool system...

Man, those Quinny are nice too...its really hard to choose

C8V6C...yes that is probably a newer version of what I have, I love it. but then again this is his 2nd seat, so its not for new borns. I suggest the 1st one being some stroller integrated just for ease of use and function.

We have it in all black, that shows all re ways it can be used.  The seat small seat and bassinet can be faced either direction too.  Made travel super easy too.

We used a graco chair/stroller set up for the first year. Super convenient cuz the chair snaps in and out of the base in the car and stroller. Then we got a nicer one after she turned one and we turned her around in the car.

I think I just accidentally bought the Quinny LOL....I made a lowball offer on eBay and it was accepted

I got Recaro's Como Convertible, super nice, super comfy, my kid loves chillin' in it, haha.

Too bad none of these seats are not allowed in Canada .. :pat: due to saftey standards..

I talked to Recaro back when this was an issue for me. They said its too costly to get the safety testing done up here when we have such a small market in comparison.
I know my first concern was safety obviously and second was how much storage did it have. Our Graco system has tonnes of extra storage for when you go shoping or to the park etc... Comes in very handy.

This matches exactly the fabric and colors of my son's Recaro Vivo booster! I gotta get this one for Chloe!

Most important: get the Prince Lionhart seat protector!!! It protects against scuffs, spills, etc. but most importantly, it keeps your seats from getting permanent indentations from the base!!!

Before I ask, pardon my stupid (and slightly OT) question.

Maybe it's because I don't have kids yet, but what's the big deal about having a seat that's certified in the country you live in? I'm pretty certain that parents in the UK take the safety of their child(ren) as seriously as parents in the US. It's not to say that parents in (insert country here) use potato sacks as car seats...

different standards in certifying...just like the cars...

Gotcha, but is it really that big of a difference that a seat from outside of the US may be unsafe, or even illegal? I just want to get this figured out before I start making young'ns lol

+1 on the indentations from babyseats. dude i bought my M from had 2 seats in the back but he put like 3-4" thick foam pieces underneath each one...but still has indentations. im hoping maybe after next summer season with some real heat....it'll even out....hopefully :sad:

Baby seats mess up interior and create dents. I prefer not to have any kids. but if you must.. I think this is the only way.

Like I said, the Prince Lionhart thing is king. We had the baby seat in the wife's Volvo for 4 years and there were no marks after we took it out. I leave my sons Recaro seat in place in my car and when I take it out, there are no dents. With the cheaper seat protector, there were dents.

I've got a Recaro ProSport (Black) for my toddler. But for the first year, you cannot get away with not using a baby basket.

If anyone is interested in one that's European-ish, take a look at the Peg Perago lineup. This is what I picked up in HongKong for my daughter, but in red (great color). Pliko P3, but in the Non-US market only red scheme color.

My take on the Maxi Cosi baby basket is that it's made too small, and not quite right for larger frame babies.

Being at the time, shopping for baby stuff in HK, I was able to cross shop many different international brands, and still went back to the Peg Perago.

Their design really places the infant in a deep sidewall design that offers the best side impact protection, just like the Recaro toddler seats. Every time I look at the Graco or other mass market seats, I could only see that there is zero side support, and actually required that "infant" head restraint to be used together.

Never had to use something like that with the Peg Perego.
