New here, just purchased the car from a kid named Austin.  i knw everyone hates on buying someone else's project... ive heard it many times, but i am thinking of doing my own thing to it, starting with the wheels.. if anyone has some vipmodulars or something closed to my specs, lemme know!

not feeling the paint but the fitment is dead on ..:biggthumpup:

the paint is awesome, switch up the exhaust and focus on getting that front lower, also add your own personal touches (what i would do). those wheels look great on there.

I'm gonna miss those VIPmod wheels on there though! You're gonna have to live up to em!

nice pick up! but one thing, YOU Have to do!! is fix the rear fender roll. I noticed it when the previous owner had it and i was like WTF about it. 

No one ever does a relief cut where the bumper attaches to the fender, causing it crease like it does on the back instead of having a nice fender pull all around. 

Fix it, and be my hero lol

laguna seca blue. i think bright colors work well with z's.

paint it black with white pinstripes, something sporty like that

that's just bad technique. it can be completely avoided by decreasing pressure towards the bumper end. no reason to roll the fender flat alkl the way down there anyway (learned by trial and error).
 
i can't believe i'm about to say this but leave it tan. the (usually) lame a** color does something amazing to this car. looks pretty classy.

yeah a lot of people say keep it, but i'm going to change it.  way to much orange peel, its flaking and chipping everywhere since its from Maaco lol. But i really like a black cherry pearl so i think that's my best bet

decreasing pressure?

don't push as hard on the metal. i.e. as you go towards the ends you don't roll it as much. no point either, if your wheels hit at the end of the arch, you probably need more than a roll.

that all depends on how your tire is shaped how much camber there is and how big the the fender is and, how low the car is. In my case that part has to be flared a bit as well

i've rolled a lot of cars with a lot of wheels at a lot of heights and never seen one that ruubbed where the bumper attaches. if it does the wheel is probably off center in the arch and adjustable traction rods should be used to remedy.
 
as for the technique, i generally roll the problem area as flat as necesarry then i back off half turns as i sweep further outward. eventually it will roll off the lip then you can use a body hammer to clean up the transition. comes out pretty clean when you do it right.

my bumper corner hits the tread of the tire cause the wheel is further out and lower.

is your caster within spec? lol, i'm sure it is, i'm just asking.

being lower changes the geometry. the traction rod pushes the wheel towards the rear of the wheel well. installing an adjustable rod allows you to pull it back forward.

mmhmm thats what i figured the rest of the arch doesnt hit, just the very tip of the bumper does cause its not pulled out

looking into custom traction rods would def help out for my car and other TLs...when dumped, i dont really notice a caster issue, but the suspension travel pushes the wheel back towards the bumper/fender tab...ive remedied the situation with the flare, but id like to invest in this anyway.

Yeah looks great rear quarter is awesome! Best way to do it in my opinion. As for the rear bumper just use the road to grind it til it's flush lol

Just picked up some new paint so ill be putting the old kit back on (ing's front lip, sides)  along with new front bumper and rear.  Pics will be posted right after its complete.

Some new shots of the new front, rear, and side's painted and installed.. Now looking at it, the pearl doesn't match very well. but it looks more off in the pictures and different angles.  Getting it fixed pretty soon...-_-

Looks the tits, BUT needs bigger wheels to fill the fenders and the rear bumper needs to be extended to sit lower... kinda looks unbalanced :shrug:

i kind of like the rear/front difference. but def. needs bigger wheels to fill it out better. kit hangs low and makes the wheels look tiny. rebarrel to step would be dope.
