Similar to our Competition Coilovers in Features and our Pro Coilovers in Appearance, the Y33 VIP spec coilover provides lots of performance and style at a reasonable price.

key features:

  • Copper Plated hardware and gold coated spring
  • Front lower mount welds to OEM spindle & last 2 inches of the damper tube for maximum strength
  • Aggressive damping range with fast adjust:
  • Allows you to do 32 clicks of damping change in just 10 clicks!
  • Pillow ball upper mount on front AND REAR!
  • Replaceable shock & customizable spring available to special order in custom Kg (even numbers only) .
  • Billet T6061 lightweight aluminum Rear Lower mount with urethane bushing.
  • All aluminum components are hard anodized
  • High rigidity/High precision piston rod design exceeds racing standards
  • Adjustable to super low ride height
  • Full thread tap piston and locking collar allows vehicle height to be adjusted independent of the spring preload.
  • 2 collar wrenches are included.
  • Light weight T6061 aluminum spring perch and locking collar designed to bear the weight of vehicle
  • Spring upper perch provides independance between the spring and the pillowball.

The Y33 pre packaged spring rates are 10KG F 8KG R

If you want, you can go +/- 2 KG on the out of the box damper.
Additional springs can be purchased for $60/pair
One off spring orders are black color only, even numbers only up to 22 KG
Additional dampers are $100, you can special order a damper to match a spring that is out of the original dampers range.
But spec on paper is not the whole story, before you go special ordering you should probably try it as-is, see how it feels to you, and your individual situation and go from there.

Lifetime manufacturers defect warranty
100% new dampers are $100 ea. Which is cheaper than a rebuild where you get back some used parts and new seals. This system is designed to reduce your downtime if you should ever have a problem and it saves labor time and shipping costs.

No one ever buys replacement dampers from us unless they crash. They are really reliable. However if you choose to under/over spring the damper too much with say air bags, you can expect to limit the life of the damper.

Heres a photoshoot of the Y33 production coilovers in stock now.

prototype car test fit pix:

this application demands a weld on type front lower mount
Forum image
camber was set in the front with the adjustable top plate
Forum image
as you can see by the exposed threads there is way more room to lower the car onto the frame!
Forum image

Forum image
camber and toe in the rear are related on this car so those aftermarket parts must be installed together
Forum image
we set the height to get over speed bumps with minimal exhaust scraping and to be no problem in driveways and around town
Forum image
to go lower I would recommend redoing the exhaust system for clearance after installing our sub frame risers
Forum image
pretty conservative here but you can make it drag on the ground if you want.
Forum image
the car rides stiff which is needed while maintaining a low ride height which may be a bit jarring for luxury tastes at speeds below 30MPH but the significant increase in suspension performance is welcomed when cruising smoothly and confidently on MAX coilovers at higher speeds.

How much are the Y34 coilovers? same price as Y33? Also, do you have pics of the y34 setup yet? I'm curious to see how much camber adjustment is available for the front before I decide on a set of onikyan lower arms...

Are you guys planning on making rear adjustable arms for y34?

same as Y33 price $1250. Sure, the Y34 setup is Y33 front and Z33 rear. I have pictures of them separately right now. Camber on the McPherson strut type coilover is a function of the ride height plus the camber plate. The camber plate has about -4 degrees of adjustability plus whatever natural camber is caused by the ride height you choose. Yes we are planning on making rear adjustable arms for Y34. Give us a couple months for more announcements on that.
The rears are the short ones in this photo:

installation price of coilovers only? would start at about $150

but you should consider alignment, alignment parts, subframe risers, exhaust raising, wheel fitment, and fender rolling

Its all related

the owners preferences and budget can vary greatly and the labor would vary according to how many of these issues related to riding low need to be addressed.

no old stuff left.
actually we have a few tension rods but they need to be a little longer for Y33. Which is a feature of the next gen ones we are coming out with soon.

Why33;393380 wrote:Pm'd u dan.. And thanks for the quick reply! :D

im going to post my answer so that people better understand the complex options.
everyones situation is different.

if the car is rolled before we start, the alignment is limited to whatever roll you do

but if we do the roll you can tell us the desired alignment and we can dial the fender to the alignment numbers.

unfortunately we are out of stock on the arms and rods, so you will need to get another brand of toe and camber arms if you want to do it before we are back in stock

we have the subframe riser in stock, they are $100 and the install is $100

the exhaust system situation will need to be evaluated, the techniques range from shortening the hangers to completely redoing the pipes.

as you can see there are a lot of options, and you can spend as much or as little as you want depending on how thorough of a job we do

Another Y33 install. Totally stock except coilovers so we kept this one pretty conservative so he could maintain alignment on all the stock parts.
