Rebarrel my Weds Kranze
So I've started to look into rebarreling my 20" Weds Kranze Vishunu's. Current specs are:
20x9 +32 mid disk (needs spacer to clear bbk)
20x10 +37 low disk
I'm currently using 20mm spacers to get them fitted a bit better, but I'd like to rebarrel to get more lip and not use spacers. I'm thinking 4" lip front and 5" lip rear...i would do body work to fit them if needed. Would probably still need a spacer, no matter how I rebarrel for the fronts to clear b/c of mid disk.
There's a vendor on Club Lexus that sells inners & outers for $275 each, which is a bit steep. I've also heard that the way Weds drills their faces is a bit different than a traditional 3-piece wheel. Can anyone comment or have experience with that?

I know someone who can do them for $240 each, plus the refinishing, looking like 13-1400 total, they drill the barrels to match the face so that's not a problem. I'm considering doing my wheels too.
On a side note, your car is teh hotness.

True I rebarrel my work ls406 and had to redrill my fronts due to the 5 inch lip they had in stock was 40 bolts and my work have 30 but my 7inch rear had to be machined so those arrived blank and all that was done was match the holes and drilled.

if you think 275 is steep try jdm barrels...but for me if the wheel is not discontinued go buy the correct one in the first place and sell the old one. probably end up overall cheaper that way. since you didn't pay too much for the vishunu in the first place.

The reason I'm shying away from selling this setup and buying the "right" setup is because the used wheel market isn't too friendly to sellers right now. I believe I'll be at a net loss if I tried to sell my current setup.
Thinking about doing a colored step lip too, which Weds doesn't offer. One of a kind, personally customized > off the shelf availability.

i got my lip machine and chrome for that price which i think is pretty good considering i dont have to ship my wheels out. Some pics of the lip when i first got them.
as you can see these are blank lips. I just drilled 4 holes to bolt the face up for the time being.
close up on the lip after chrome. Different tooling was needed to get a 7inch lip
and final assembly with new inners and outers.

Not going to go too crazy, since I don't want to do any extensive fender work. I will most likely do both new inner and outer barrels. Just trying to decide what kind of special finish I want on the faces.

Just waiting on the blank lips now, since he had to special order them. The Weds barrels were drilled all funky and had like 60 holes in each one, with only 30 being used.
just to be clear, I sold the Vishunus and am rebuilding another set of Weds I picked up.

Shoot, you guys found people to rebarrel without a step lip?
Last time I inquired with someone they would have had to bump my Expands up to 17", and it would have been much pricier too, than what you guys are paying. Might have been due to being a welded 2-piece design.
Looks interesting, I'll keep an eye out for updates!

I know my guy can do high polished, chrome, powdercoated, hydrographics, but not sure about anodized.

Why is that? The lips on my SSR's are factory clear anodized?

Hard to maintain and not a very tough finish.
Id go with a sprayed clear over any kind of anodizing.

Whats so hard to maintain? All I do is wash it every couple weeks and wipe it down in between washes. Just curious.

Because of its strength and durability, anodized aluminum is also used in a number of other applications. Many of the satellites circling the Earth are protected from space debris by layers of anodized aluminum.
Also a good read for anodizing...

Raw anodized aluminum needs to be cared for, the shit that's usually on SSR and Volks lips and what not are usually anodized, polished and coated in a protective coating.
Raw anodizing gets water spots and is tough against dirt and what not, but it's not a real tough finish against much else...
That silver pinstripe on the outside of my wheel isn't there on purpose...
