Possibilies for new Quest!?

As a wise man once told me, the new Nissan Quest is the same an the Elgrand in Japan with the only difference being the front end.  Who will be the first to do a conversion?  Anyone want to buy a modded xB?  LOL

Would be such a dope build for someone  to convert a quest to an elgrand. They share the same exact body/ sideskirts just different front clip, rear gate & bumper cover, rear corner lights & body corners :biggthumpup:

any of them look cool. I really am stumped as to why Nissan figured it had to be different here. With the Juke and Cube remaining the same and all.

go for it. i remember the days of 4runner front clips onto toyota mini trucks. new quest actually looks good as is...well as a canvas anyways, lol.

i think i just found a replacement for my e60 m5...  lets hope i can find an exporter that can get me the elgrand parts for a conversion.... the wife is gonna hate this.

Im not gonna lie, I thought about this as I walked by a Nissan dealer and read the 0 apr for 72 months plus discounts on year end models.  I had to talk myself out of it.

wife didn't sign off on a minivan. i would be right back were i shouldn't be; lowered, not so comfy ride, 20s i would have to take care of, tires that need to be replaced all the time, can't take on road trips, and not taking it out of garage scared it might get messed up.... damn it. after i found out how i can get all conversion parts through local dealer.

i like it. i will get it after i finish my current project.

Anyone else notice the quest is 5 inches wider than the elgrand? Would the bumpers even swap over?  Unless the body is wider but the bumpers are the same width.

That's hard to believe. 5 Inches is pretty significant. I mean, thats wide fenders on a 240. remember that they use metric and we use standard measurements.

Lol I think I know my millimeters and inches.  Just check out the US site for the quest and Hong Kong site for in the ebrochure . U will notice the differences on width.

it really makes no sense to me why it's this way...the cars cost about the same and ours is dimensionally higher and wider and longer. it's a shame cuz that will turn off pretty much everyone from doing a conversion. well, exchange rates are so far out of whack, It would prolly cost the price of a new car to convert it anyway

I don't know why everyone has to hate on the US version front before it's ever been modded though. You can gurantee the folks in Japan will want the US version. "Grass is greener"...... IMO BOTH look good, just a little different.

^Elgrand still looks better PLUS the tail lights are different & Elgrand's look better as well.

i said the front grill should be color matched along with that lower chrome piece under the grill but keep the one between the headlights chrome. I think it will look a lot better

I was going to post an argument about how the US version is just as hot when it's done up to a.blanco0905's response "^Elgrand still looks better PLUS the tail lights are different & Elgrand's look better as well." but I said to myself, what's the point, cause like you said, no one is going to do it anyhow so it's a waste of breath (or typing lol). Seriously though, on my quick p-chop of the US grille onto the Silk-Blaze car, it's just as sick as the JDM version IMO.

Lol... yah, agreed it's a waste of time, nonetheless, I could definitely see the front being just as nice, but I cant see the rear... :shrug: 
 
At the end of the day it's all subjective anyways.

I was thinking about this over dinner. The width still blows my mind. But I think the overall length has to do with the bumpers. The wheelbase is the same.

Nissan really played the safe card with this one

and you all know the japanese are gonna try and cop the US stuff

That's nice! I saw a new Quest on the road for the first time the other day. I personally love it. It's got more character than any other van on the road in this country. Couple years from now, who knows.

i can see how the length of our car is in the bumpers. But yea, doing a conversion is more cost friendlt if aftermarket stuff is used.

I have a 2011 Quest.  I like it very much, the interior material is much better than the Sienna and Odyssey or any other vans in the market.  The interior material is very similar to my G35 and have more gadgets that you can imagine (I have a fully loaded LE).

As for the width when compared to the Elgrand, I am pretty sure the Quest is wider than the JDM van.  If you look at the interior pic of an Elgrand vs a Quest, you will notice the driver side A/C vent on the Elgrand is smaller/narrower than the one on the Quest.  Some of the buttons next to the vent in the Quest has been re-located below the vent in the Elgrand due to limited space.  I don't think a direct conversion is an easy task.

I just bought a set of used FX45 20" wheels, after I re-finished the set,  I will post some pics.  As for the suspension, I've done some extensive research.  There are options like coilover or springs from Cusco and Nismo, but it cost serious $$$ to get it from Japan.  So I will wait to see if there is any other alternative.  But I doubt we will get any aftermarket support in the US.  Just looking at the most recent Nissan sales figure, they only sold approx. 850 Quests in the month of August compare to....like the Rouge with almost 11,000 units sold in the same month.
