Thoughts on staggered height?

Have a chance to run a staggered set of wheels
18x9 +37 19x10 +30 work T1S but I'm sketchy about doing it (x10's currently getting rebarreled)

Currently running 18x8 +36 // 18x9 +37

Have option of running
A) 18x9 +37 // 19x10 +30
B) 19x8.5 +40 // 19x10 +30
C) Keep the current setup


kind of leaning towards A) but its never been done before so I'm not sure if it'd look weird.
Only one other person on the tsx forums that has done something similar, but he ran a step lip setup, not as much lip, and doesnt have a lip kit so the wheels look a lot smaller than they are ---- below

No I'm not afraid of the staggered width. I'm afraid 18" up front and 19" in the rear would look :pat:

imo staggered diameter is dope but only if you're going to tuck the rear.

I've done a 19/20 stagger and honestly did not like the look of it, I bought them because they were cheap though.  I would do a same diamter wheel all around with the fronts in step lip and the rears in reverse lip so it gives the "illusion" that the front wheel is smaller but it is just the face.

ow, I got it. I personaly dont like it, looks kinda wrong.

it doesnt look weird on the ls400, but kinda wrong on that white honda. I dont see a reason why to go front inch lower.

Looks good on the LS but it is a larger body as well.

I'm only exhausting this option because I have two sets of T1S's, selling the other --- with the option of running the staggered diameter if I want to as I have a buyer who is willing to buy the set of 18's, or narrower set of 18/19

Sets:
18x8 +36 / 18x9 +37
19x8.5 +40 / 19x10 +30

As it stands, I'm beginning to lean towards running the 19's all around. 215/35 up front and 225/35 in the rear

go with the 19's, I honestly think 18F/19R just seems off...

I thnk staggered set ups, with different diameter wheels, should be done only on sport coupes.

I'm running a 19/20 right now...I agree, need to tuck entire lear lip.

i think you need to be low enough to pull off a diameter stagger, otherwise it just looks weird

agreed fellas, something tat hour very own Pancakes shared with me that was of help to me was that the rears needs to be tucked and the fronts need to be damn near. Too much tire gap on front fitment in my pic and the entire lip needs to tuck in regards to rear fitment. On a positive note : you do get the best of both worlds with a staggered diameter setup because you can roll 'flushd up front and rears tucked. disclaimer* i am not done tweaking my fitment. when complete it will be as described above.
forgot to mention rubber - on my 19x9.5 / 20x10 I am running 225/35/35 (f) and 245/30/20 (r)
will be swapping out rear tires for some 235/30/20 just to see if stretch doesn't match up.
point is that you asked about it possibly causing problems for your car, i was worried about the same thing. make sure you run a smaller series on your rear wheels to keep rolling diameter as close to same as possible.

On a 19x10 .... I already bought some 225/35/19 bridgestone RE050 RFT's, although I do have some 235/35/19 nankangs

would 225/35 stretch be a bit harsh to daily on? perhaps i should try to source a 225/40/19

im not sure whos car this is, but its step lip front and reverse lip rear. looks sexy

^^^everyone is hot on that. ride is off the chain, don't get me wrong but personally i think it'd be more complete w/ either stepped lipdid or reverse dish on all four corners. common denominator. no pun intended.  i'm just a symmetry freak or haven't caught on yet. i know they have been doing it over there for for a minute and that may be a contributing factor, but still to me just looks incomplete. good contribution to the thread for sure 5t341tH right along the same lines.

most people's excuse for reverse rake is that rear fenders are cut lower or what ever. is why diameter staggers make sense to me.
i see no point in the whole mix match your lips thing. just me though.

it's supposed to be an optical illusion type thing, but it just makes me perceive a drastic difference in lip sizes. I prefer flat lips or maybe a reverse lip. I'm down with a flat/reverse stagger, but I've never been a huge fan of stepped lips, but hey that's just me.

See, me, I'm a fan of both. both are great, just not counter acting or cancelling each other out. maybe stepped one side and reverse the other?...sorry op, good talk in here though.

i've seen the step/reverse done the other way, combined with a diameter stagger, and it makes more sense to me. i.e. 19 reverse front/20 step rear. this way the faces are the same size.
 
 
the reason i say diameter stagger is dope for tuck is because normally on a car with the same diameter all around, with minimal rake,  the rear will be tucking anyway if the front has no gap (radius excluded). having a larger rear diameter exagerates the look by tucking more wheel. not feeling it on cars that are sitting above the rim.

225/35/19 on a ten, depending on the brand of tire, can be pretty scary at times.  I dailed on a narrow(er) 225/35 when i was on my eurolines and it got to be a bit scary when going over bumps and shit...never had any blow outs or problems, but it was always in the back of my head.  If the wheel will fit your car with the 235, id stick with that.
