******How to thicken a body kit?
Wald kit being very thin ...anyone knows best way to thicken the kit from inside (anything like spray glue or spray fiberglass)....just want to thicken the kit since I drive dumped most of the time and want to minimize damage....

is the kit full fiberglass?
you can fiberglass it from the inside to strengthen it (better if its only one sheet instead of patches)

fully fiberglass ....dont want it 2 thick it might not fit well...just streghtenning it more....

There's a filler called fiber strand. It's like bondo. Mix with hardener and lay like bondo

it wont be too thick, you have to strengthen the inside to make it straighter on the outside. i would fiberglass with full sheets instead of using anything else. don't use cheap resin or sheet chopper

the liner coating is too heavy, plus the proper way to fix fiberglass is with more fiberglass

1 - Low density (minimal expanding) 2 part foam...old Drifter stuffs. Keeps pieces from falling apart if the kit is smacked and shattered. Not spray foam from HomeDepot...u will warp ur kit :smiley-rofl:
2 - if you're going to patch with more fiberglass, overlapping (even minimal) patches and strips are much stronger than a "sheet" of the same material
3 - FG reinforcement core / matt. Its a matt that is actually made for what you are describing. It is very porous and available in huge thickness range. looks like a soft towel with pin holes in it. Very Very strong and light weight. as thin as a mm ;)
Carbon Fiber should only be used when you know what type of resin was used on the original part. 99% of kits are made with polyester (cheap) resin. CF should only used with Epoxy resin. The two will adhere but delaminate over time or impact..plus its too expensive to get the same results.....or less.
Dont sweat the minimal added weight....the car is already over 4k lbs, a couple more isnt gonna make a difference :shrug:

I was thinking more along the lines of spray glue the inside with interior glue, high tack. put down the carbon fiber, resin the back side let it setup. pull it out of the bumper, sand down to coarseness on the fiberglass, resin the front side of the carbon, then use wurth two part quarter panel glue to bond it together. To much work? probably, but some kits dont exist anymore like gpsports gfour haha

You could do that...but it's too much time/effort/money for minimal results.
wet layup wont provide the strength that people expect from cf....that type of process is pretty much for cosmetics.
Pressurized/heated curing and spec Resin ratio is what gives CF its strength outside of its high tensile properties.
Theres a lot of things that people can do that "work", but that doesnt mean its optimal...it just gets u by or buys you time.
Jus re-work the fiberglass properly and you guys will be golden.:biggthumpup:
