New from KS need advice on platform!

What's up VSC members!!! My name is Ray from Wichita Ks. Ive been a long time lurker i fell in love with VIP styling looking at some of the awesome builds y'all got! Ive always been a Honda head but i felt like Ive grown out of my Honda face. I just sold my most current car a 2008 civic SI sedan that i invested alot of time and money into too purchase a VIP platform. Ive been searching for some cars within my area and narrowed it down to 2 so far. My first choice is a 99 ls400 base in a from what hear rare color baroque red metallic, it has 110k clean title and is in mint condition the down side is that it needs to have the 90k service done on it and the carfax shows that it's been in a accident. My second choice is a clean black on black 01 gs300 w/ 140k clean title and carfax but the current dealer that has it doesn't know if it's had the timing belt replaced either. I wanted to use the profit i made from my previous car to buy one of these outright my spending limit is $8000 i talked the LS down to 8k and the GS down to 7.5k. Which one is the better buy??

Dude get the ls, that color is sick! IMO I always saw the gs' as much more sporty, it just depends on what you're going for.

Yea thats really what I want I think im going to have to do it the only thing pushing me away is the fact that it needs servicing asap. It should have gotten it done at around 90k and my local lexus quoted me $1200 to have it done thats money that could be put towards modding ...in the long run it will be better I guess

I'd get the LS...but I might be bias. Same color combo as mine :)

Don't let that affect your decision, both cars are gonna need some form of maintenance. Use that as ammo an offer him a lower price. Look through peoples build threads and get a feel for what aftermarket/ cost of ownership/ maintenance is like.

I went and looked at 99 ls400 and it was in terrible condition and the GS sold:( ...I had a back up car which I went and looked at and it ended being in mint condition so i bought it so my new project is a 97 LS400 coach with 120k clean title and dealer maintained and all service up date not too mention it was way cheaper!!

I payed 6k for it which seems like quite a bit but the condition on this car and maintenance made it totally worth it to me the only thing that made me second guess it is the color but i can work with it lol

I plan on getting tint this week I'm going with like a bronze like tint also getting led taillights, HIDs,clear bumper lights and replacing all the interior lights with leds

congrats on the pickup, it looks mint inside and out!  id probably eventually get a full color change, but you can def make it work for the time being...the fact youre looking bronze-ish tint is making me confident that youre gonna pull this thing off!

Thanks!!! yea im considering a color change down to road ... right i'm trying to concentrate on suspension and finding some nice wheels i want some full faced wheels with a nice lip ...BTW Ive followed your build thread awesome TL man I love it
