Y33 Spring install Question

I'm going to install some S14 springs on my car until I save up for the S-Chassis conversion. I really hate how high my car is and the ugly 18" Motegis thats on it doesnt help the look either.

I was wondering could I just unbolt the tophat, remove brake caliper, and swaybar link and pull the shock from under the fender while the lower ball joint is still installed?

Or is there not enough room underneath to do so?
