J30.... opions on this platform

Well I have been looking at cars and I noticed that the J30 is rear wheel drive and has a vg30de.... Would it be something as s VIP Platform or just something that would really be over looked at?

There have been numerous people asking about J30 (Leopard I think) on the old board...if i remember correctly a few had some wheels and suspension work done but it is not the most popular platform for Vip or for modification in general...mainly because there's not much available for the car. If you own the car, it's your choice...but making it into a Vip styled car will be exremely tough and require A LOT of custom made parts.

I think a lot has to do with shape...it almost seems like Nissan/Infiniti gave up on designing this car by the time they got to the rear end. The front looks semi-desent, but the rear look like shit. Vip cars, or cars influenced by this style, still have pretty good bodylines...J30 has none. Also look at it this way...you buy the car for $4K, suspension+wheels for $3K, custom aero and paint for at least $6K. That should take care of the exterior...OR you could buy an older LS or Q for $7K, put $3K in wheels and susp. and another $3K into a kit and painting it. Notice both options add up to $13K, but with the last option you will have a true Vip (style) car.

J30 just looks wierd, and no matter what you do, it will continue to look wierd.

Yeah I see what you mean man... I agree with you. I just wanted to see what would be an eye catcher... There are so many Qs and LS's...

If you want to stay with a RWD I personally would love to see Vip styled Cressida. You can find one of those for a very low price, and use aero from other ncars, and make it fit. I know a guy who has 2JZ shoved into his Cressida.

Another option would be to get a diamante, RL, older GS, etc.

It only seems like there are a lot of Qs and LSs, but thats because we are all on this board...if you go on a drive, the chance of you seeing another fixed up Q is almost zero. Some states have bigger Vip scene (Hawaii, Cali). For my state I am the only one with a car that has stuff done to it, few more members are waiting to put their cars together. Just go out and test drive some cars and see which one you like the most. Y33 wasn't my choice at all...I wanted a GS instead. But after testing out the Q, I fell in love with it.
