Will a VK45DE fit in a 97-01 Q45?
Been looking around and haven't seen anyone do this yet. So I was wondering if the newer Q45 motor will fit into the older version? What things are needed to do the swap? If it's even worth it? Thanks for your input. :)

The crank and rods from the VH45 will fit in your stock block VH41. The VH41 is a destroked VH45. I don't think you can do a straight VH45 swap, as a lot of the vacuum and sensor connections will not be the same between the two engines.

If you are going to do a swap it should be the Titan VK56 motor since it's going to cost so much anyway....but yes, with enough money it is all possible.

Almost guarantee it will fit fine physically...might need some adjustments to the motor mounts and transmission mount, but not a big deal. The biggest issue will be wiring. Holley makes a standalone ECU that can control both the engine and transmission which might make things a bit easier, but it will not be a very fun swap for the gain.
Seems like it might be best just to add a supercharger or nitrous to the VH41, but I am a big fan of keeping things simple (N/A) so I understand if you might not want to go this route.

The motor is too tall so you will need some work to the hood and you will need to swap out oil pans too. Been told that the oil pan from the latest generation Q will fit but not confirmed.

i've been trying to figure this ish out too. haven't been able to find many performance parts for the vh41.

I don't think any supercharger kits for the VH41 are in production anymore.
Look into a custom turbo set-up. Might be easier to fit into the engine compartment.

Centrifugal supercharger should fit fairly easy...will have to move either the battery and some coolant hoses around or the intake. Would just have to make a bracket.
Honestly though...nitrous is your best bet to keep things reliable and simple. Turbos suck for reliability.

The motor, from what I've read, is not any taller than a VH41. The intakes are similar, and the blocks are identical. The 4.5's extra displacement comes from a longer stroke crankshaft, not a taller deck height. It should physically fit in the engine bay.
You might be able to mate to top end (heads, intake, etc) from the VH41 on a VH45 block. That way, all vacuum lines and sensors stay stock in the Y33 chassis. Wouldn't have to worry about a stand alone ECU.
And, turbo's do not suck for reliability. Yes, there is a bit more maintenance, but done properly, a turbo set-up is no more unreliable than a supercharger.

Wait, isn't the OP talking about a VK45 and not VH? The swap to a VK45 would be a PITA, but if you're going to the trouble to do it a VK56 or even VK50 would be a better idea.
