Who wants to break the bad news to me?

Just changed my oil, as per regular schedule. Synthetic oil, Wix filter. I started her up and immediatly heard it. A light tinny noise from the engine. Louder from under the car. It has to be the rod bearings right? I am going to wait for the engine to fully cool down and start it later to see if it's any louder. This couldn't have come at a worse time.

F50's have documented engine issues though, the Y33 does not. They are not going to warranty a 147k mile motor.

I have two job interviews coming up on monday. I hope to fuck someone hires me. I'm going to need the money. I found a used motor one town over for $650. I'm hoping pulling the VH is not a bitch.

I have had no issues with the rack. I know the belts need changing. But it would not make any sense being a belt problem if it started right after I changed the oil. I will see if it is any louder in the morning. If it is I will go get a second opinion and work from there I guess. How I will pay for it I do not know.

i know i know. lol only similarity is it being a Q. one easy way to diag if its in the bottom end.....kill the power to each individual cylinder and see if the knock goes away. if it does, you have pinpointed the cylinder at fault. hopefully its not an internal failure tho!

If its a bad bearing there would be sediment in the oil. Lots of it too. Once the outer plating on the bearing goes bad the softer metals inside degrade pretty fast. I would drain a cup of oil out of your pan and use a coffee filter to strain it. If you have bearing problems there will be a bunch of glitter looking crap on the filter.

Might have dodged a bullet. Sound was not there today when it was cold. Drove it 20ish miles and nothing. So who the fuck knows. Still keeping a close eye on it.

I'm curious to know what type of noise you are referring to? A whinning noise, or a tapping/ticking/knocking noise?

Make sure it isn't the AC condensor. They are notoriously loud as they start to go on the Y33. Mine has been loud now for 2 years. Car is so quiet w/o AC but loud with it on.

It was kind of a ticking noise but more tinney. Did not sound like a valve issue.

I have not used my a/c since I bought the car. Did not blow cold when I bought it and was not a big enough issue to spend the money to recharge it. I have dealt with compressor issues when I was a mechanic and also did not seem like that was the issue.

For right now it seems ok. But we will see. I just saw a set of mint Bersaglio's on Zilvia and got super jelly and depressed. :(

At least I have a job now, so I can start saving. With all the little things that are wrong with my Q, I think it's going to be easier to buy a beater and take my time with the Q. I am going to need something for the winter this year anyway.

I couple months ago I got close to desperate and almost bought a 740 Turbo wagon for $500.

I have all the pieces for my "fun car", it's just the issue of them all being in the places they need to be. I put the new motor in and started the wiring of the motor. But It has zero stuff in the interior or anything else firewall forwards. So in short, it is a mess right now.
