started, then died, then about to start again.

Hey guys, been lurking around these forums for about a year now but never really posted. 

in feb. i bought a 97 ls400 and started in on the mods. started simple with a double din head unit, some HID's, and sat on it like that for a minute. a little while later i bought some minor mods such as a wood grained shifter, did a little maintenance and was about to get started in on the lowering and wheels.

about a week before i bought the coil's i wanted, i was in an accident. I finally got the police report to prove it was her fault yesterday and i am going to send the car off to the repair shop tomorrow so they can tell me if it is truly totaled or not, my guess is yes it is totaled.  so now i am on the search for a new ride, most likely. anyone have any knowledge in the cheaper vip please give there 2 cents. I am debating weather to get an older infiniti or stay with what i have already had. i loved my lexus, don't get me wrong, but i could always go for a change. let me know what you guys think of your older cars, whats wrong with them, what you love about them, so on and so fourth.

Sorry for the loss man. If anything just get another LS or a y33/34. Either way both are good cars.

As in older, u aint gonna get anything better than what u have in that price range.. just buy the car back if its totaled..get cashed out and put that money towards getting it fixed and some fender work done at the same time while its getting painted.. borrow some agressive wheels to get body work done at the mean time.. save like 1 g for coilovers since they so cheap now.. then wait for the wheels while u stack up again.. its not that hard...

whats your budget also

well i bought that car for 4 g's. but there are a lot of flaws i really dont want to live with anymore in my next car so i was going to invest a few extra g's into the next one so i wont have ripped seats/faded paint/cracked dash. if it is totaled out im excpeting to get around 6k from it since thats where the market is at right now. so i think my max budget for a starter would be 8-10k. i would like the mileage to be under 150k...ish...

Just raise your budget to 10-11k & you could get yourself an LS430 (Texas) with way less than 150k miles...  good luck & keep us posted.

i've actually been looking at that. it looks freaking awesome. only thing that's really scarring me is the fact it used to be rhd. don't know how much of a hassle it will be with registration and what not. plus some things arn't working, a lot of power objects inside the car like electric rear seats. dont get me wrong those would be sweet, but just another thing to break after so many years.  

theres a gs for sale on cl i'm thinking about getting. see how long state farm takes to get back to me. 

they said they needed to wait for the police report, so i offered to send them my copy i received in the mail via email. it has been 2 days now and they say 'we still haven't received it' but they have sent me other emails from the one i sent!? i feel a run around coming my way. 

talked to a friends mom who works for AAA and she said state farm is the slowest insurance company ever, they make everything difficult....great.

yeah I got into an accident back in November. The police report took about a month to be done which was total BS.

So 25 days after the crash happened, State farm finally takes my car to get an estimate for the repairs. 

I've had to fight them on the rental car since, i guess, there was some misunderstanding somewhere. I told one person on the phone that i got the rental car the day after the crash, she said she would take care of it with enterprise. 10 minutes later enterprise calls me saying that they got a call saying state farm was taking over payments but wasn't paying for what i have already used. tried calling them back and their office closed...great. had to wait all weekend and monday morning i called again. the next lady i got on the phone said the same thing and that she was going to call me back 10 minutes or so later to confirm that it went through correctly. no call...great. would have called them back myself but i was on my way to work. guess ill have to call back tomorrow..again... so far my experience with state farm has been pretty ridiculous. hopefully ill find out what they plan to do with my car tomorrow weather its totaled or if they're going to repair it.
