97 Y33 odometer problem
So my cars odometer has been saying 155k since I first bought it, the odometer stopped working a couple days after purchase.
I was wondering does anyone know what controls the odometer? All other gauges work besides the odometer.
Already tried searching on usless NICO, but they said an easy fix a mechanic should be able to do it.:pat: if I wanted to do that I wouldnt ask on forums.

strange it all of a sudden stops working right after you bought it... You might have to get a service manual and see the procedure to troubleshoot it.

Does the speedo work? The odometer usually works off the speedo, if the speedo displays speed it's supposed to increment, if the speedo does not display speed then it won't increment. So that's one test right there. If the speedo does work, then it might be a problem with the odometer itself, which will probably be something electrical related (unless it's a mechanical odometer like found in the UCF10, but I doubt that even my G50 is electronic)). If the speedo does not work, then that's probably what you should troubleshoot first. In most car's and truck's I've messed with, the speedo receives an electronic pulse from the transmission itself via a speed sensor, but might be routed through the ECM before it actually gets displayed on the guage. So there could be a few potential things to check. First thing I would do in that scenario is try to use the onboard computer to see if you have any error codes. The factory service manual for my G50 (90-96 Q45) shows me how to run through the process of checking for error codes on certain components (for example, the A/C unit has its own error code process). I'm assuming the Y33 is similar, some way you can read error codes. Is the SES or Service light on? Do what Blitz said, search the web for the service manual and go from there. Helps to have access to friends with the same model car (so you can barrow their speed sensor to check, for example), or access to a parts car or nearby junkyard. Good luck
