i wish there were some rear shots...   Comparing to the front.    Some of those front bumper are sooooo modified.   Looks like most are kbreak modified...

am i the only one that thinks these cars are over the top stupid looking, what happend to clean body lines and good taste. thanks for the pics, some are really nice though.

Yes a few of these cars are over the top imo.......but from what I have been seeing this year this show had a lot more cleaner cars ( I left out a lot more tacky cars on purpose) but hey it is what it is right now hate it or love it....:shrug:

I think whats happening over there is that they are years ahead of us.   While we are just starting (and slowly at that) they are past what we see as VIP.     Imagine years of the same old same old...  wouldn't you be tired of it?  people are just trying new things trying to one up the next guy.     I myself ain't too big of a fan of crazy fender gills and even bumper gills...    Clean fender gills at most.    90% of these custom colors look nice though and the color matching and contrasting on the wheels is very interesting.

You also got to look at the geography of Japan...  The whole country can gather and show off their stuff in events like this.    You think it's possible within the US?    Near impossible I think because of distance.    The meets in japan is like SF and LA and SD guys meeting up for an event...  That's doable but not the entire US.

What's up with the geography of Japan? lol... just kidding, I know u meant size, anywho, I thnk that's irrelevant because of the internet nd the amount of people (nd especially car enthusiasts) using it here in the states... One good thing I've noticed about the states over Japan (granted I have never been to that country) is that we bring regional flavor to the overall scene. West coast, south & east coasters, we all bring a little twist of our regions into play when we mod... even if it's something minor. 
 
If the future of VIP in the states include lemon lime paint over pink wheels & purple decals I want no part of it, lol... I will def give props for being different though. 
 
That being said, I've noticed there's some cats that will be left behind as U.S. vip evolves...

you can be wild, but just be styled. If you are doing it just to do it, then its no longer a meaning to it. I have seen some wild rides, but they also flow really well with the styling.

I understand what you're saying but sometimes even if they hv meaning to the owner other ppl cant relate nd that's where the lemon lime & pink come into play, lol... perfect example of that is the fuga tails, cats hv gone as far as saying it cheapens my car...

i think my Y34 has way better fitment than those in the pictures ... :shrug:

That's subjective....  Not all of them want to be hella flush. This 34 is probably the cleanest I seen to date. not over done and I love the color.

Agree...  going this way is so much more driveable...  more comfortable to drive.  without having to worry about turning or tires touching fender or inner fender...or some times the lip touching the body.

i dont know about anyone else but i have tuned my fitmet down to the thickness of a business card ..

this crazy over the top number chasing fitment bs is really a north american thing.... if you look at vip cars from the late 90's early 00's, it's obvious fitment wasn't a top priority.

The scene over there is jus going around in circles. We aren't seeing anything new really. All this "Crazy/wild" stuff you are seeing now was still there in the 90s+
There's jus more of it now due to the scene getting more exposure. You will always have those that push the extreme levels to stand out and be different and you will always have those that prefer to keep it clean and simple. The reason I love this scene more than other automotive scenes is due to the fact that this scene like the low rider scene provides way more personal expression.

Yeah! And unlike the drift scene and stance movement high school kids can't afford it and would rather have sports cars that big sedans to impress their mates

Don't be so sure about that when owning a platform can easily be had for under 5K, wheels for under 2K and suspension for the same. No different from the drift/honda/import scene
