New, Non-VIP platform, member

Hello all. My name is Mark and I live in Vista, CA. I'm originally from Fridley, MN. I'm in the Marine Corps and that is the reason for being in Cali.

I was stationed in Japan for 2 years and that is where I got my fascination with the VIP style and look. I am, however, a lover of all cars and styles.

I know I don't have a VIP platform and that you guys don't like wannabes showing off their non-VIP platform cars. So, I'll keep it to myself. I am mostly going to be hangin around looking for ideas and things that I can do.

As you can see from my sig, I own an 03 MBZ E500 Sport... Not a good platform for VIP but, I'm doing what I can.

Thanks for reading, I just got new 19x9.5 Carlsson 2/6 wheels in the rear and 19x8.5 2/6 Ultra Brights in the front.

New wheels on... Some pics I have:

I need to get spacers and taller tires for the front. I love the rear. I need to also lower the car a bit as well, though, I'm not going to lower the car unless I have the rear link in this time, less rake. Though, I still need to find someone that can help me with the rear one.

That's what I've been noticing. One of the things I'm running into though, is airbags. All the ones I'm finding, aren't made for my car since it's a E500 Sport and it has the stock air suspension in it.

Oh well, I'll keep looking and I'll probably have to do it custom.

Stock air suspension throws a wrench in everyones gears.

Look into how to convert that car to coils then use UAS bags with the coils.

There has to be a half easy way to do it.... then again in my education with German cars, there is no easy way to do anything.

I appreciate the insight. I know this car can be converted to coilovers. I know a guy that has it done. I'll be talking to him ASAP!

Thank you, if you wouldn't have said that I would not have remembered that.

I just did a bunch of research and it is possible to take out the airmatic suspension and replace it with coilovers.

I found these that will work with my E500: http://thmotorsports.com/ksport/ksport_coilovers_kontrol_pro_kit/cmd142kp/i-509169.aspx

I'll probably be getting them in about a month or so if all goes as planned. :D

I think MB is pretty VIP since it seems to me that some vip styling from Japan, especially in the beginning, might have been influenced by MB. Either way, with suspension, you get what you pay for. Next thing to check tho, does UAS fit over a Ksport coilover, and second, does UAS fit your car itself (sometimes the bag will rub suspension components and cause wear, depends on application) It is quite possible that maybe UAS does not fit, in which case you might want to consider an Airstrut type of setup (which Ksport does make btw). Thats the hard part about uncommon or new platforms, sometimes you have a hard time researching things and/or you end up testing stuff out for the first time.

Good info. Thanks, I'll keep doing more research before jumping in on anything. I want to do this right. I hate being so ambitious sometimes.
