what kind of fender work you looking to do? There's a variety out there, flares, subtle flares with stock body line, widebody, slight pulls, duck lip pulls, hammered flat look...etc etc etc.

Something along these lines. My new rear wheels are way aggressive and at -9 camber I still have about an inch and a half to make up in body work

When I did mine, I thought the stock body lines on the fender looked too complex (G50 chassis), so I asked them to smooth it out. I'm not sure what style this is called. I told them I wanted it pulled out as much as possible without having to rework the chassis itself. I also said I wanted it smoothed out at the fender lip so that I can get a flush fitment/stance type of look (still working on that). This was done hammer and dolly. Not radiused. No cutting or welding. Something along the lines of 10hrs of work per fender just on the metal work.

In progress

Metal work finished
Forum image

Before paint. This is with a stock wheel on there.
Forum image

Right after paint. Can see where the pull includes the rear doors.

Finished product (fender wise)

Here's a project I'm working on and hopefully can bring it to AF vip meet. 2004 LS430 metal fender flares.

Here are the fenders I used...87 Honda Prelude...
Forum image

Cut and folded up with a bat to see what I need to clear...Don't mind the key scratches. Somebody decided to go to town on the car...Fkn Haters. All good though, cause that's the reason for all the work...
Forum image

Forum image

Before...
Forum image

I cut the Honda fender for the shape I needed it to be...
Forum image

The tabs that were folded up were cut prior to welding on the new flare...
Forum image

Welded on filler and primer...
Forum image

Same for the front...So 4 front fenders from a Honda all around...
Forum image

Here is an over view shot of the fender work...
Forum image

Car is almost complete with paint. Full color change. This is just an old rough pic of the car before the teardown. More pics to follow, soon.

Lol. No seriously, somebody went to town. The whole car was keyed up. Trust me one key scratch per panel is more than enough. This was a lot of work bro.

I got some spot welding pics and some mud. But as far as the fender I just cut to fit. Cut it big then trim to how I wanted it to fit tight.

Here's how my project went a number of years ago...pretty similar to JJ's...i used fenders from a 3 series bmw...wasn't fun working with a welder with no gas and a 30 gal compressor...not to mention no garage...

what i started with...

That's pretty much the gist of it...

And here is a pic of my latest project...couldn't use any fenders for this one because the high radius and wasn't able to find anything close that will hug the rim so i had to improvise...and now that i have all the tools and workspace i need, made this go around much much easier although its still TONS of work...

Depends on the shop.
Typically couple hundread at the most (no more than 500)
IMO it's pretty cheap.
Hit up Jocson's in Nasty city, they did mine and the homey Dennis's Y50

Well We have been quoted around 3500~4500 for metal work like that TL.

Depends on shop and type of work needed but i would expect minimum 2k

Most if not all of these pictures show just the outer skin of the quarter panel. does anyone have any pics or would anyone be able to shed some light on how the inside looks? are 2 lb hammers being taken to the inner wheel well or are they being cut out then welded back once the outer skin is finished?

Got mine done a few weeks ago, process was a little different than most. Instead of cutting slits, he cut straight across over the body line.
Nothing too crazy, just a little over an inch to make it fit.

hi,
Most if not all of these pictures show just the outer skin of the quarter panel. does anyone have any pics or would anyone be able to shed some light on how the inside looks?

Just found this thread.

Pretty sure I've screwed mine up...

I should have done more research.. haha

I do however have some shots of what I did under the fender.

This was my first attempt. But I screwed it up.

Trying this Toyota startlet front fender.

Not sure how to do the bottom bits though, as they don't line up with the bodykit.. (comes in closer to the wheel)

Any suggestions welcome.

Ouuuuuch bro that's rough, why doesn't the metal flair sit flush to the factory sheetmetal? Seems like a there is a huge gap, best bet take it to a shop and get it done right. Respect on trying it but yikes.

It's a flare from a different car. I'll keep trying it myself as I bought a welder to learn. :) I haven't cut into the door if thats what you think it looks like.

Nothing Bog can't fix. Just want to keep it to a minimum.

Just my opinion but I'd get a fender or something from the junk yard and practice it first, till you get it the way you would want it on the car then go back and re do the car. That way you don't end up warping the metal on your car., that's what I did with my first automotive welding attempt, I was much happier with the result then when I tried it on the car first. The less bondo the better.

If you look where the flair comes down in the pic it looks like there is a gap between the flair and the door, you want those two metals touching so that the weld gets a good bond. That gap even when fully welded might not be solid enough not to crack. Anytime you weld something up you want a minimal amount of gap for better strength and contact penetration (no homo)

Thanks for that bro, That dark part between the flare and the door is actually door. So there is metal and not a huge gap. But Yeah, I'll try cut it close as possible to reduce gaps, and not warp the metal. I'm not too fussed if it looks messy right now. It's just a project car made for learning. I have some spare body panels that I've been learning to weld on. Unforgiving on thin sheet metal.
