Post pics of your fender work... I'm taking my car into the shop soon to have some big work done and I need pics to bring to him of what I'm looking for. Thx for the help!

what kind of fender work you looking to do? There's a variety out there, flares, subtle flares with stock body line, widebody, slight pulls, duck lip pulls, hammered flat look...etc etc etc.

When I did mine, I thought the stock body lines on the fender looked too complex (G50 chassis), so I asked them to smooth it out. I'm not sure what style this is called. Somebody decided to go to town on the car...Fkn Haters. All good though, cause that's the reason for all the work... LOL..thats pretty cool tho. any bigger of a flare and i say the lines are too hard since it doesnt get up into the quarter panel, but for a small subtle flare, it looks awesome

Here's how my project went a number of years ago...pretty similar to JJ's...i used fenders from a 3 series bmw...wasn't fun working with a welder with no gas and a 30 gal compressor...not to mention no garage... what i started with... nah no pics of the car completed...moved to cali a few days after I painted the car and pretty much sold everything...the car itself was 'stolen'...

I like where this is going. Wonder where's my insurance agent or the feds.
I can write up a full key job for about $5k...I paint completes for $2500 and up...its a no brainer...just be careful to not total your car...

Well We have been quoted around 3500~4500 for metal work like that TL. Depends on shop and type of work needed but i would expect minimum 2k
i paid thousands for mine, but it also included a respray.

Most if not all of these pictures show just the outer skin of the quarter panel. does anyone have any pics or would anyone be able to shed some light on how the inside looks? are 2 lb hammers being taken to the inner wheel well or are they being cut out then welded back once the outer skin is finished?

I cut the Honda fender for the shape I needed it to be...

Got mine done a few weeks ago, process was a little different than most. Instead of cutting slits, he cut straight across over the body line. Nothing too crazy, just a little over an inch to make it fit. Ouuuuuch bro that's rough, why doesn't the metal flair sit flush to the factory sheetmetal? Seems like a there is a huge gap, best bet take it to a shop and get it done right. Respect on trying it but yikes.
It's a flare from a different car. I'll keep trying it myself as I bought a welder to learn. :) I haven't cut into the door if thats what you think it looks like. Nothing Bog can't fix. Just want to keep it to a minimum.
Just my opinion but I'd get a fender or something from the junk yard and practice it first, till you get it the way you would want it on the car then go back and re do the car. That way you don't end up warping the metal on your car., that's what I did with my first automotive welding attempt, I was much happier with the result then when I tried it on the car first. The less bondo the better.
If you look where the flair comes down in the pic it looks like there is a gap between the flair and the door, you want those two metals touching so that the weld gets a good bond. That gap even when fully welded might not be solid enough not to crack. Anytime you weld something up you want a minimal amount of gap for better strength and contact penetration (no homo)
Thanks for that bro, That dark part between the flare and the door is actually door. So there is metal and not a huge gap. But Yeah, I'll try cut it close as possible to reduce gaps, and not warp the metal. I'm not too fussed if it looks messy right now. It's just a project car made for learning. I have some spare body panels that I've been learning to weld on. Unforgiving on thin sheet metal.
