Joined 3 years ago, but didn't make an intro thread...

I made the account when I had just got my license at 16, but that was only to view threads I think. Now that I'm an apprentice Toyota technician (with better than broke-ass student income), I think it's time to do research for something VIP since the '90 Corolla GT-S I'm rolling in now is a bit small for me (I've had two Cressidas and a VW Passat in the past, all with old car reliability issues).

As it sits, I'm looking into either a UCF10/20 LS400 or Y33 Q45, but I'm torn between the two. The LS allows me to get discounts on OEM Lexus parts, but the used market here in Vancouver, BC is either high-mileage, overpriced, or has beige paint. The Q on the other hand has not been done in Vancouver by anyone as far as I know, but it's uncommon, and replacement parts might not be cheap by comparison to OEM. I get it's pay to play with VIP, but if something OEM needs replacing, it can get pricey with these cars.

Hopefully I can gauge some opinion, but I'm leaning towards the Q45. I've been getting a ton of ideas from build threads on both cars, and that's helping a lot.

Sorry for the long intro with no pics, but I wanted to get my plans out in the open. I'll be looking for either candidate once winter is over.

Thanks for reading!

Rounded up on the year since it's almost 2012 LOL.

Anyways, if I did go with an unmolested, NON-US-market LS, it's gonna be a beige VIP grandpa-mobile since I don't really want to have my car out of commission for repainting haha.
