Y33 Q45 to Y33 Gloria front end conversion..

how hard would it be to do a Y33 Q45 front conversion to a Y33 Gloria/Cedric front end?

specifically the hood/grill/headlights? ..possibly even the rear tail lights.


excuse me if this has been gone over already, but i'm ignorant to it, and any useful feedback would be much appreciated.

you need everything....  I think Grant (Yokotas13) tried and ran into problems.    There is no side mouldings either...

You cannot put a Gloria front end on a Q45 because they are not the same cars

I beg to differ.......it will fit....with more money and time spent on it. =)

A few of us Y33 owners here have contemplated doing this coversion a few times. You would need to change the whole front clip pretty much (Fenders, light, hood, grille, etc.)

Is it bolt on ? That is, if you get all the necessary parts... like doing a before m/c to after m/c ls430.

Gloria is not as wide as Cima, so you'd have to somehow make it wider. Same w/ Y34 and F50, the suspension, brakes, most of the interior, engine and trans are all the same, but the F50 is wider.

I wish I knew more about Y33 chassis (never owned one). The conversation reminds me of the G50 President conversion. In my case the G50 and PHG50 chassis are actually the same chassis, and the conversion (which was basically an entire front clip) was bolt on. Does anyone have more info on the actual chassis codes of the Y33 Cima and the Y33 Gloria? Are they both just Y33? Usually the codes are an indication that a chassis is shared between two models. This is why Y34 and F50 would be completely different chassis even though they might share some parts.

The Gloria Y33 has these chassis codes:
E-HY33, E-Y33, E-MY33, KD-UY33, E-PY33, E-ENY33, E-HBY33.

The Cima has these codes:
GF-FHY33, GF-FGY33, GF-FGNY33, GF-FGDY33.

The Q45 has FY33 or FYG33.

i would expect the front end to be pretty simple, but probably not bolt on, since they are all y33 chassis. the rear would involve swapping quater panels and maybe even grafting them to get the right tail light mounts.

They don't have the same width.
The Cima/Q45 is  1,820 mm and the Gloria is 1,745 mm.
So It's not a simple bolt on.

There is also an Y33 Nissan Leopard which is 1,765 mm.

No, it can be cut and welded to fit but unless you know what you're doing it's going to look like a bag of shit.

none of those are completely bolt on though, which is what i think the OP is questioning. can it work? yes. will take a bit of work and quite a bit of money? yes.

Hahahaha its probably because they are both 4 door sedans. People look at one, then they look at the other... they both got an a-pillar ... and 4 doors... and a roof.... Maybe it bolts on???? (hahahaha i keed i keed)

But seriously, easy to make a mistake. However, there are plenty differences to the trained eye. For example (OP) look at the rear doors. Also look at the shape of the rear quarter panels. Good 'ol research also helps, comparing chassis codes. Might not be bolt on but anything is possible. If u like the look then do it!!

My point was it can be done w/ the right amount of time, skill and money.

Prime example of what CAN be done. But you can't bolt one clip to another.

i always thought they were the same platform, just different USDM/JDM body panels/lights. hence the reason for this thread. definitely didn't think it was one of those serious bodywork conversions.

i wouldn't let these guys get you too down. the important part is not sheet metal differences, any decent body man can take care of that, it's the structural similarities. parts like how the fender mounts to the rail, if the hood hinges are the same, headlights brackets, hood latch, etc. is what you need to know to figure out the complexity of the conversion. the superficial stuff is basic.

that is essentially what i was trying to get the answers to. 

i've even gone as far as researching in some Japanese forum and even Thailand VIP forums (my Thai friend translates the stuff for me, since i dont speak it) and we couldn't get answer there because they don't have US-spec Q45's there to compare to.

so pretty much this forum was my last resort. in hopes that somebody might know the specifics, like what u just pointed out about structural similarities, etc.

Ok, well I don't really know why you feel like this forum let you down. People did post and give you info on the differences between the chassis. Definately more info than I ever knew about Y33 variants. You now have more info to use to research on your own and either validate some of this info, or find out more.

The bottom line, and what I think alot of people are saying here, is that anything is possible and anything can fit anything with customization. You asked if it would bolt on, and the apparent answer is no because they are different chassis, different widths. No need to get down on the forms here, though maybe people did poke more fun at you than was necessary. I think you got off pretty easy, I didnt even make a meme...

Hey if your serious about the conversion, then get serious about the conversion. Bring in the parts. See how close or far apart it is. Its things like that, going all out, that set the bar. Nobody here is stopping you.

I did some searching and picture cross referencing with my engine bay and with the gloria/cedrics.

The engine bay structure looks pretty close, lots of stuff is mounted the say way, same area. The radiator supports look to have the same mounting holes in the same areas.

Also about the width measurements posted earlier, what part was measured? You guys dont think different cars with the same chassis can be different, due to what body was on it?

Think about it like this, it would be more cost effective for nissan to make a couple cars based off the same chassis design specs. And just have different bodies and minor tweaks for each. honda owners have been doing front end conversion for years, and one reason is that all the chassis are some close and lots of stuff is interchangeable, same thing to say about some nissans.

But at the end we will never know, until we get some shots of a bare front end with measurements and compare them to our y33s.

I put a Gloria front end on my Cedric, was a pita but I did it

Then tried to put a Gloria front end on my cima....yeah no. No way it will work without extensive modding. Almost everything won't fit

A cima is the same as a us spec y33 lol just a diff engine

Do it!!! would be dope to see that conversion! but damn for reals that would be a lot a $$$$$ to burn
