VIP + Canadian Winters

Thought I might as well throw another uniquely Canadian topic in here.

So what do you think, is VIP doable all year round for us Canucks? Road clearance and tire choice are obvious important. But what about the affects of road salt and ice?

my car got snowed-in on cypress last friday...and i had snow tires too...sigh....

vip style ride can't do shiet in snow...end of discussion...hahaha

i have my stock wheels with winter tires and i crank the coilovers back up to stock height. so far no broken bodykits or corroded wheels. thankfully my coilovers are aluminum because i had gone through one bad winter with steel coilovers and that was a total disaster :(

You might as well roll on your stockers for a couple months. Whats the point of F'n up your 2k + wheels ? 

This winter has really just been a taste of what 'real' Canadian winters are bout. Try an east coast winter...

Vancouver winters aren't all that bad.  Well... in the sense that there really isn't continuous snow, but it gets damn cold and icy!

I would say if you have coilovers and stock wheels, you should do fine.

Especially in Richmond :smiley:

Winnipeg got the winter cold for sure.

You couldn't Vip year round here, absolutely not. After the December bliz, I could barely get around with stock ground clearance - in fact, the bottom of the car was actually dragging in the snow, and I had to plow myself a parking stall.

Snow tires or at least reasonable all-seasons are pretty essential here too, not to mention the fact that the salt, bumps, and insane temperatures would be a no-no for expensive wheels and stretched sport tires.

im thinking of buying a bodykit but after this winter, im debating of buying it or not
if i do get one, i would have to take it off when it snows
other than that lowered car is alright

yea they should be okay so long as you dont drive it in winter when the roads are filed with salt :smiley:  plus our roads get icey so your car might not have a good grip with those tires.

here in holland we got a lot of road salt too so i'm driving around on wintertyres on corroded stock rims too right now :(
but it's worth it otherwise the wheels are gone ...i got polished lips so one drive with salty roads and there screwed

sure it looks like shit right now , stock wheels and dirty but just gotta pull through and waight for spring :)

although this winter is really mild i got to say

Today I noticed that I had 0mm of clearance between my front tires and the massive slush boogers hanging from my rockers, and that these slush boogers were now dragging on the ground...and I'd washed my car just a few days ago.

stop whining about salt on roads lol! I live in quebec and our roads are... Shitty is not even close to describe them :smiley:

hehe true, i was in montreal/laval around the end of january and the roads were shitty as shit can be lol

I once cracked a rim and blew a tire on the highway.

my celsior is my daily winter car. 225/40/18 winter tires on my 18x9.5/18x10.5 Aldaldts. :biggthumpup: air bag controller to raise it up on the snowy days

iv been lookin to put some big fat light truck/snow tires on my 16's for winter already raised the car higher then stock oh and NY roads are really bad!!!

oo boy ..i know the feeling i run 18's in the snow with my oem's have hit a major bump yet ..(KNOCKS ON D DOOR PANEL) lol

Coilovers out, stockers back in on stock 16's and Blizzaks. Ready for anything.

holy ..now we are on the same height ...lets see who looks better with OEMS on ..hhahahah

drove mine in the fall, but it doesn't see winter roads. Unfortunately i had to leave it outside for a week, and in that week the snow hit :pat:
