I'm stuck between the two. Suggestions guys?
how about you ask yourself how and why you arrived at these 2 brands in the first place and then work from there!
Chris is on pbm, i ordered pbm's coz of his car. That should tell you right there
I'm on BC 14/12 and they are pretty soft for max stiffness. If you plan on riding low I say go for pbms.
Hrmm..... I guess PBMs are the way to go, I know the build quality in both of them are outstanding. And you're right Vincent, I've wanted PBMs since Cuban had them on his car. I guess the only reason why I'm asking you guys is because I wanted to make my first purchase right. I want to do it right the first time and not take any short cuts.
i really dont want to be biased but i am on PBM and i love them things!!!! they are sooooooooo PERFECT!!! on the other hand you can order way higher spring rates for the BCs. on the other, other hand.... the PBMs are known to be way stiffer than regular springs or coilovers..... Ahahaha I see. Yeah I'm just gonna go with PBMs since I've read up on their build quality, now the dilemma I'm having is the spring rates. I know they come 8k/10k, but I was thinking 10k/12k or 12k/14k just because I have a 2GS and I will be slammed.
just checked the site, it says they come in 12kg / 8kg. Not sure where youre getting the 8 / 10 from

personally, i don't see why you would pay more for pbm. for ~$200 less you get an equally full featured coilover with excellent ride quality characteristics, custom spring rate/valving options (pbm also offers custom, but bc lead time is 3 weeks vs. pbm boat ship), and custom damper lengths (same deal). nobody local has pbm, and i'm sure they're a high quality product, but bc is good enough that i'd be surprised if pbm was even marginaly better (other than the aesthetics).
I'm on BC 14/12 and they are pretty soft for max stiffness. If you plan on riding low I say go for pbms.
spring rate is a measure. it is the amount of weight (kg) needed to compress the spring a certain distance(mm). 14/12k will allow the same amount of compression on any coilover, the difference is the damping. the "softness" you are experiencing is the result of a well matched coilover. stiffness and harshness are often confused, your car doesn't have to ride like s**t just because it has a high spring rate.
what were you on originally, vincent? switching from bc to pbm will say a lot more than switching from say megan. i have no doubt that pbm is a quality coil, but what OG says is correct. Just because it is a stiff spring does not mean it should ride harsh. my BC's are 20/18 and it rides smooth and VERY comfortable, yet i dont bottom out. not sure how PBM's handle, so only input i have is that BC is very much worth the money
Right now i'm on d2's. A tad bit too soft since I will occasionally rub rim lip against my fender. I had pbm's previously on my sc300 and it rode nicely. I ordered 22/20 for the pbm's for my LS jstyle has like 34/24 on his ls400 but pbm said 22 was the highest they offered. Should be stiff enough though
