W140 Tire Stretch & Offset Question...

After doing some research and considering some options, I think I'm going to go with 20x8.5's in the front and 20x10's in the rear on my 500SEL. Tires for normal fitment  would be 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 respectively, and offset would be somewhere in the vicinity of +35 / +38.

My question for the forum regards tire stretch and offset. What size tires should I run on these wheels, and what offset would give me best fitment? I don't want to have to pull the fenders. I can live with some shaving, but I don't want to do any body work to an all original vehicle.

I have some local guys trying to convince me to go a bit wider like 9 front, 10.5 rear. By doing so, will I run into fender issues?

def stay away from the 8.5 front.  9 or even 9.5 will be a better choice.  just have to adjust offset accordingly.  youre cool with zeb (i think thats his name) so he should be able to teach you how to measure for offset.

Smallest reasonably priced and easily found tire is probably 225/35/20.  On a 9in wheel, there is a slight or mild stretch, so on an 8.5 it'll be almost flush.

I just put 225/35/20 on my 9.5s and I think it looks good. Not crazy stretched look, but I'd consider it a medium in my book.

I'd run a 245 series in back if you go 10s

i would go with a +25 on a 10" and 11" or a +15 with 9" or 10"...

20x9 inthe front and 20x11 in the rear with a 44 offset on all wheels will fit and run 245/35 in the front and 265/35 in rear and will fit just roll fenders..........

forgot to mention tire sizes...i'd run a 225 and 235 on the 9 and 10 and prolly a 235/245 on the 10/11

Its funny you should mention that. I have been trying to get up with Zeb, but haven't heard back.

Id say somewhere around this
 
225 tire on a 9.5 is a awesome moderate stretch, 245 on a 10.5 is also a very safe stretch 
 
im running the 225 on 9.5 and 245 on a 10.5 setup if u wanna check my stretch out
