Y33 Spark pugs (Recomendations)

About to fix my leaking valve cover gasket and decided might as well change my spark plugs while I'm at it. Question though, thought I read somewhere on here where cats prefer to use one spark plug over another? I wanna know what y'all recomend or do not recomend for spark plugs?

i used the platinum tipped NGK ones from kragen and they work fine.

iridium Denso joints work well for me in the past...

Same here......actually I believe the platinum ones are recommended for the Y33

usually when you change spark plugs coilpacks go out.

not true. although the Qs are prone to have coils go out at any given time.....original ones with some age atleast.

usually with q's that havent changed out the oem coils around 120-150k will go out. its a given.

NGK Platinums for plugs

becareful with the coils when you pull them out and they might be fine, but yes the coils get pretty fragile with age.

it happened to me, changed my plugs at 90k  one of my coils started freaking out so I replaced them all.

how much did it cost to replace all 8?

I replaced my OEM NGK Platinum w/ NGK Iricium IX and loved them, quicker throttle response and I had them in there the last 3 years I had the car and they're still going strong w/ the current owner.

Had the dealer do it as part of the missed maintenance along with the valve cover gasket when i purchased my Q

list is $115 or so per coil if I remember correctly, with my discount I ended up paying about $700 for all 8

not cheap, but the coils are problematic so I figured replacing all at once would save me the trouble of hunting them down individually.

yeah thats what I would do... even if you hunt down a used set who knows how long those will last.   $700 and you are good for another 100K miles.   maybe it's possible it'll help with gas mileage and vibration with a better spark.

no need to replace them unless they are giving you problems aka misfire issues

NGK laser platinum or iridium ix work fine

Sorry for digging this old thread back up, but my gaskets are due & (just to be safe) im also changing out my spark plugs too, because i forgot to ask the owner that i bought it from, when the last time the plugs got changed. Im going with NGK plats.

Actually, this is one area where OEM is actually best.  ....Can't believe I would leave anything stock....but yeah

yep, ngk platinum. on the older Qs they are due every 60k suggested by infiniti. the newer cars around 00+ started to do them every 105k. im bout to break 90k and i'll be changing mine.
