#428382Short intro. Okay maybe not so short...
Hello, my name is Ray.Just stopping into say hi, been lurking this forum and a bit of Club Lexus for the past couple months as i've gotten myself immersed into the vip world. I wasn't going to make an account on here till I got a LS, but I couldn't wait any longer...
Little short background:
My roots came from the American Muscle which I got from my father... However back in 2006 I got myself into the VW scene and kind of gotten a bit known in that scene being sponsored by Suspension Source, Miro and ESM Wheels.
I currently own a 1993 VW Corrado SLC Turbo but i'm throwing that into storage once I get my UCF20 in the next month or so. Just so hard finding the right one ya know?
How did I get the lust and want to get into this scene?
I was hanging out one day with my buddy who owns a S13 pig-nose coupe, real clean car. I was set on getting one of those for a "daily" (I hate the term beater, as I never beat on cars, nor will I ever depart from a car once it's mine).
He kept talking about a "626" meet and that I should go with him he also mentioned they got boba there... Well shit, who doesn't like boba?! After a couple weeks, we decided to go and that we would rendezvous with a guy up there who lived in the area at the time and was dating my friend's sister. Finally we hit the meet and after an hour another group rolls in, "ew Lexus..." I said under my breath as I saw them from a distance...
Turns out, this group of cars that rolled in, is in the crew (Kerry, slammed red EK), is apart of it. So we walk over... I was still adamant at first, "I do not like Lexus..." I kept telling myself...
However after a few minutes passed, I quickly started falling in love. "Royal Flush"... What a goddamned perfectly catchy name for a crew, and believe me, I do not like crews... But this was different, and those interiors?! GODDAMN!
Couple weeks later I found myself going back... I still couldn't believe myself, after 2 meets, I felt the same way I did, that I hadn't in a long time, not since the day I first saw a Mark IV Turbo GTI pass by me every morning as I walked to my high school in 2006... I was hooked. I couldn't believe it, these cars stood against everything I loved, they were on air, I couldn't stand Lexus, crews, and air-bags... Oh I could not stand air-bags... But holy shit, my views did a 180 and I find myself staring at vip cars left and right as I walked, no; as I rushed, into my room after each meet and jumped on the computer.
Everything happened at the right time, it all clicked like a Tetris board, like legos, it was 2 peas in a pod, it was perfect timing. The bottom end in the Corrado was slowly deteriorating from running a bad tune, too much fuel and washed out the cylinders, my car is dying, slowly. I knew I had to be on the quest for a second car.
I quickly thought back to everything I wanted in a second car, everything. I didn't want another VW, I wanted an Audi, but I wanted reliability and low maintenance costs. I wanted a car with a familiar scene, where there's a scene there are buyers, and where there are buyers, there are parts, lots and lots of parts. I wanted a car that I could wrench on if anything failed, not something overly confusing and advanced... I wanted a car that i could modify and make it nice. I wanted a 4 door as I was tired of having to jump out of my car to get back passengers in, and this happened to be quite frequently. It had to have a lot of back foot room, I love my passengers comfy. I wanted the car to be perfect for a family, gotta think about the future... I want "modability", I want comfort, I want Luxury and I want a car that would be a perfect size for a new family... But I wanted something reliable and low cost. An Audi was quickly dropped from the charts... Royal Flush started racing through my mind. A Lexus!? No way... I couldn't be caving in... Really? Oh but I was. I caved in before I realized it, it was the second I saw Chalee's UCF20 and Wilson's UCF21.
After reading so many threads and articles on the LS400, I picked it to be the absolute perfect choice for me and for my future. So many owners praising decent economy, tons of reliability (hell, various owners across the globe with 300K+ miles?! Count me in!). Oh and the simple body styling, so perfect. I love the body lines and the cush interior. Everything is perfect. The vip world? PERFECT for my love for luxury.
And that's where I am now... On the search for that perfect UCF20. I was originally going to go for a UCF10, but the vast amounts of added functions between the two generations are so different, I opted for the UCF20. It was a hard decision between simple and non-interference vs more luxury and having to keep a closer eye on maintenance. But then I factored coming from the VW world... Maintenance is FAR more laid back here then there.
I've already started paying off the credit to make room for Air Force air-suspension, a set of either Weds Kranze or Leon Hardiritts (or maybe something else?), audio setup and lastly Garson/JP interior goods.
I cannot wait... The grass was greener on the other side. So here I am, ready for the build.
