What do you think about matte black paint?

Hey guys just wondering how you feel about matte paint, im thinking about repainting my Q a black matte finish, with matte wheels. I know its not something new.Im doing this only if i keep my car, i just changed up the airride and thinking about a repaint.

I think matte black looks awful. But satin black can be drop dead sexy on the right car, and well done. Best ones I've seen so far are vinyl wraps. Plus I think maintaining a satin wrap would be much easier than satin paint.

Personally, I love the look of matte black! Make sure you invest in some swissvax products to maintain the paint.  Swissvax has an entire line of goodies for matte finishes.

i've seen some good lookin cars in a satin or matte finish....can't say i can imagine how a y33 would turn out....just doet!! lol

I dunno about a matte black Y33.. I think it belongs more on 2 door coupes and similar but to each his own :biggthumpup:

I love it on the right car, right color and done properly with no creases.  Just like with candy paint, the painter really needs a steady hand for it to come out right.  More times than not, it doesn't come out looking great.  

Mercedes, Lamborghini and a few others offer the finish from the factory and it is a real expensive option.

it's very dark

matte black was like back in 08...

i've seen a couple matte red's, yellows and other colors and they've all looked dope... i would probably never paint my personal cars matte anything

just like any other color, it's a matter of personal taste and dependant on execution. i can definitely see it coming out dope if well done though.

satin looks better

If you have to ask, you are asking to conform. So don't conform, be out of the norm. After all that is what VIP is, isnt it?

Thanks i feel the satin over matte, i think it will be cheaper before i do anything to have my friend do some renderings for me.

i think satin black would be a btter finish but thats just me

Check out Ronnie81's build thread for reference he went with a satin black on his Y33 as well.

Cant say I'm a fan of the matte,flat or satin colors & I have painted more cars than I count in those finishes...But @ the end of the day..It's what u want.....GO FOR IT :biggthumpup:!!!  may come out better than u expected :shrug:.

Keep us posted. I think your platform would look off the chain in matte black. I have a matte blk suv that people drool over, but it was purchased in matte blk ;)

satin black woot woot! already have my car painted that color...get hella of compliments on it and me personally looks really aggressive on the car...and drew has seen the car and he can tell you his opinion on it...but i was on the ropes about it myself...did it and love it...easy to maintain and easily matched if any problems with scrapes or anything....but its really personal choice...im very happy with my decision and thats all that matters!

was cool for like a second, but now so many cars here in so cal do it. 

if anything i would consider maybe a two tone scheme with flat and glossy black to play off each other.

When done correctly it can look really nice:biggthumpup: When I took my grill in to be done I was introduued to a wide range of matte blacks, so be specific and take picures of what you want. Good Luck and if you like it go for it. Fcuk the haters:innoutrofl2:

that protege5 looks like dicks....and mine sat lower with JUST coilovers. LS is nice in a way though
