y34 afm

IF anyone has an intake on their y34 (excluding you yudi) using the factory afm.....i'm curious if the z32 3.5" afm adapter is the same bolt pattern......if not, i might just buy one and hope it fits lol. but i got one from my g35 that imma see will bolt up.....

g35 maf adapter is too small. gotta try a z32 adapter now. lol

i am going to mass produce these for $550 each .. your check engine light will not come on! 
 
Why stress you self you when you can just bolt it on .. :giggity:
 
or attempt to do this and stress you self out lol 
 
it feels like a 10 hp gain .. i will do a DYno and let you guys know !

What I don't like about that kind of system is that the factory is quite good having a funnel in the front and that the aluminum piping conducts too much heat. These VK45 do run quite hot. If it was stainless or composite might be better but more expensive. I might have to go that route as my throttle body gets moved back a couple of inches.

....which is why i would like to keep the upper half all silicone tubing since it's in the engine bay....to prevent some heat soak. i need some measurements of the z32 afm before i go and spend $20-30 for an adapter lol but pre-afm pipe will be 3" then 3.5" after the afm since they afm housing measures roughly 3.5"

ordered a z32 afm adapter. its an aluminum one with a 3.8" inlet. i plan on running a 3.5" intake like yudi but not as pretty and one-pieceish like yudi lol. i do plan on making the top half of the intake with all silicone....so no heak soaking bishesssss

if ever you sell one use that money to buy some engine degreaser and a brush=)

lol he got a free engine bay cleaning with the intake install

lol .. its all spiffy clean now !! 

that's that dirt .. it Oil from rust proofing ..BTW

Did you have to cut the inner fender to get that in there? Mine is solid and doesn't go down in the wheel well

Yeah he cut a hole. What did you use for your afm?

Grabbed an aluminium MAF adapter and modded to match our bolt pattern and switched to a cone filter. Wanted to just mod the stock air box but it wouldnt have done much. 

Now looking at a different idea with the piping.

yeah the z32 3.8" afm adapter i got, i had to slot the holes since the y34 afm has a bigger mounting flange, so i'll have to use a bolt/nut type deal....but i havnet put it on yet cuz i still need to get a 3.75" section of piping and a filter.

The filter is the easy part. I'm trying to figure out piping

yeah the 350z intake kit from KN seem like a close match I'll be trying that out since i have a friend at KN filter :)

nope. i had one from my g35....too small. i got one for a z32 with the 3.8" inlet and i had to slot the outsides for the afm housing to work......but i havent put it on yet lol

Just measured and realized this will fit our cars. I had ordered a 3.5   id amsoil dryflow along time ago. Now I can put it to good use. Does   anyone know a good cheap material to use for making a corner box blocked   off from the engine heat

its in the mailbox. will install when I get home, unfortunately it came yesterday lol, but was busy and did not have a chance to check shipping status if it came early.

never did this. the afm housing i shaved smooth for a filter....never bought a filter. lol but any 3.75" inlet will work fine

So initial review of the afm adapter and 3.5 amsoil biggest filter i could buy is wow
 Noticable power increase, gained 1to 2 mpg, great throttle response now (have had traction control and vsc disabled for less than a week before I installed the air intake) , still a noticable difference from the intake alone. Great sound. Now I want to finish my exhaust.
